Default LQ4 Turbo Recipe good for 8's!!!

Building up a 93 Mustang coupe at the moment for a carb'd LQ4 swap. Just concentrating on drivetrain and suspension at the moment. I DO have a 80K mile LQ4 complete and a set of LS3 heads. I was thinking of all the things I would have to have to do to finish the carb'd motor......intake, carb, fuel system, headers, etc. I thought to myself, self we can build a turbo motor just about as easy and probably run ALOT faster. SO......any recipes to get me into the high 8's, low 9's? Im thinking the 317 heads off the motor would be better than the LS3's, read about them lifting at higher boost numbers. I really dont wanna run blow thru due to tuning issues. I think the power levels Im after here could be stock intakes and stock ECM levels. BUT Im not real keen on this turbo stuff either.

WOW! Thats killer! Im still learning the turbo thing but could you get away with running an a2a intercooler and do away with the other injectors on that. Just trying to simplify things. Im thinking a PT88 turbo, LS6 cam and possibly an LS6 intake maybe would get to low 9's pretty easy.

Im just brainstorming so bare with me. With a turbo setup I dont need the LS3 heads, high dollar headers or a high dollar cam. Thats all money in the bank that would buy my turbo right there. I still have to have a fuel system with either motor I choose so thats gonna be close to a wash in price. I dont have an intake so another wash. Granted I have to buy piping, v-bands, clamps, boots, a2a IC, BOV etc.

im doing something nearly identical right now with my 86 notch. chassis is set to go already as i had a 408w/101mm in it previously. i have a stock lq4 that i put arp rod bolts in and i plan on getting a 76-88mm turbo(depends on what i find for how much). i have a CLOSE e-85 pump so im gonna run that and hopefully do 600-650rwhp for awhile to keep me "happy"

Ditch the ls3s and the 317s and get the l92s, best bang for the buck for heads. Get the vic jr singal plane carb intake and a e-85 blow through carb. Its gonna be way cheaper that way because you wont have high dollar injectors and expensive fuel pumps or have to pay someone to tune an ECM. As far as headers go, if you go turbo, just use the truck manifolds.(CHEAP)
Dont worry about tuning issues with a carb, its way more user friendly to make sure your tune-up is dead on, rather then using a computer to tune.
ARP head studs and MLS gaskets and you shouldnt have to worry about pushing water, unless your gonna run some crazy amount of boost, which shouldnt be needed for your goals.

The LS3 and L92 heads are identical except the LS3 heads have hollow intake valves. I have heard the hollow intake valves are not ideal for boosted apps though.

Correct me if im wrong but the LS3/L92 heads are the same head. I think the valve material is the only difference.

Hence the reason I said use the l92s.

The LSA motor is the supercharged 6.2 used in the Cadillac CTS-V. Those heads are cheap, but you still need to buy valves, valve job, and rockers.....
