Default Blueprint Engines 427 crate motor - a good buy?

Isn't this a pretty good buy for a close to 600 hp LS motor kit?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MLL-PSLS4272CTF/

From all the LS crate motors I've seen out there, this one seems to be the most complete for this type of power level. ECU w/tune, harness, oil pan, coils, DBW throttle, it's all there...

I know this isn't a LS7, but how high do you think you can safely rev this motor considering its longer stroke and likely less heavy duty valvetrain?

If you have a fat wallet...then buy it. You could build the same HP for alot less...and have cash to spend on tires and stuff that breaks

How much less, do you think? I am looking for a crate motor, and not to assemble the motor myself, so I am happy with paying an experienced builder for the assembly.

I think my question is more along the lines of "how does this compare to other crate motor alternatives" (be it GMPP or others). Sorry if I wasn't very specific.

If you want to go naturally aspirated...and get a really good warranty..you can go with the GM crate. If you wanted or could do the leg work your self, you could build a 5.7 or even 6.0 to meet that hp goal..for an easy 4-5k turn key..[rough guess] If you go boosted...you could use a stock 5.3 and get easy streetable 550-600 on pump gas and be well below the 10k.

There is a 15% off summit code floating around that is good for a few more days, might make the price slightly more palatable.

Well I would asked how do they arrive at 427 cid with there ALUMINUM LSx 427, Since it appears they do it with an LS3block and looong stroke, they need to spell out the rev limits pretty clearly for this 427, the parts list and the fine print (or lack of in the case of the fine print) in the Warr. is the true tell.

A buddy once told me (Mike @ CMS) Performance needs to be looked at like a 3 legged stool of Performance-Cost and Reliabilty skimp on any one too much and that stool falls over..

By the order of cost

1 Build it your self-the labor is free right
2 Talk to some sponsors here about building what you want-you'll pay more but get what you want.
3 Buy a GM crate that makes the hp your looking for $$, thats what I did found because I found a deal from a sponsor. (See Below)

I'm doing a Darton sleeved block from RED and I think with good shopping you can do much better. LS2 block with RED installed Darton sleeves. 4.125 bore and 4.00 stroke. No worries on piston rock.

Just my .02

put a proper piston in tyhere and have it built by someone who knows what they are doing and its not an issue at all

You can run a 4.250 stroke if its done right
