Default MILD Heads/Cam/Blower Fox vs Bolt-On G8 GT - Video

My friend just picked up a new fox project car. He's had a rough time of it since he bought the car, with various things breaking before he even got to drive it, but he finally has it road worthy. He wanted to get some kind of idea where he stood, performance-wise, before he started making changes, so we set up a couple quick runs against the G8.

Keep in mine that there are alot of unknowns on this car as far as parts go, and with it's current gearing and 26" tires it tops out at around 105 mph. Also, it's only running 5 psi with a small blower.

That thing must have 4.10's in it and only turning 5500rpm to top out @ 105.

I thought so too, all things considered. I'm sure some people will be upset that it's not running 9's with $500 worth of mods, like every other fox on the internet, but with traction and a little more gearing I think it could run low 12's. I recommended a set of 28" Mickey Thompson or Hoosier drag radials as the first change, lol.

I think the converter might be slipping up top. Gearing could be steeper than that too, we're not sure yet.

Get it up on jack stands, mark the driveshaft, rotate a rear tire, count how the DS rotations

Revs out to about 6000.

I have no clue what's in the rear, but it tops out way too early. The 3800 stall was just something to get it on the road. It came with the C4. I blew the T5 the first week I had it.

More gear then a 4.10 is my guess, my olds had 4.11s and toped out about 115, around 6 grand, 27" drag radial. Looks like its gonna be a monster when you get it worked out, I would get some 3.73s.

Get the right gear, make sure you have enough fuel(255 pump and a T rex you can get used for cheap),36-42lbers and the right tune and you have a easy mid 11 second car with traction.

Nice races

Thanks for the comments guys! I really appreciate it. It was pretty tough going from my f-body to a Fox, but I think it will pay off in the end. I was looking for a race car, and I got it, but without all of the speed.

In the end, it should be pretty quick, but it's a bit frustrating. When I put a tire on it, it should fly out of the hole.

You have nice heads, nice blower and light weight. Don't get greedy with boost or timing and you will fly once you get the bugs out of her.

Smaller pulley, make sure you have enough fuel, 3.73's, and get it tuned. With that little bit, you can go 10's with traction. I ran 11.20's in my 94 gt with almost the same setup. I had a 4r70 trans in mine, small converter, and it had a race weight of 3588 pounds with me in it. You should be a lot lighter than that. You will get it there.

That car don't look to have a 27" tire.

Nice fox, sure it will make a hell of an 1/8 mile car but kinda boring for the street IMO. First mods should be a full tune up, read and fix/clear codes and go over/upgrade some of the electrical system since it looks kinda messy in there. But again great fox.
