Talking My top end refresh! what to expect on the dyno?

I already ordered all the parts and the rebuild is scheduled for mid-April. But, I'm way too much excited and want to share it here!!

Custom Cam Godfather(love the name! 230/236 6XX/6XX 112)
Lunati Dual valve spring kit
Cometic .040 head gaskets
ARP head bolts
Lunati Tie bar street lifters
Mill heads .015 ( I dont know how much CR it will give me..running on 91)
Comp Cams rocker trunion bearing kit
Chromoly pushrods
Lucas 42lb fuel injectors
Crank bolt and front seal
NGK Spark plugs TR6
Dyno tune
New TSP 1 7/8 headers with TSP ORY( should I get new O2 sensors with it?)
UDs

Car is M6, stock 3:42(it will blow for sure..happened 5X already LOL ), 150 wet shot, Racetronix kit, ported FAST 92, LID, stock 28lbs injectors, LS1 timing tuner, old *** 1 3/4 headers and ORY(the crappy designed ones) with dual dual, heavy street 18'' wheels, Monster 3 clutch with lightweight flywheel. Engine has forged pistons with valve relief/rods and stock crank.

Right the now the car has a old TR22X(unknown spec) with single springs(30K++ miles :S on it!! ). 404rwhp on a mustang dyno(420 uncorrected). Peak hp is around 6K. nitrous tune(no timing retard on the hit). 100% street car. Not a DD.

Any comments? prediction? Did I forget something?

I will try to do a before and after dyno and will post for sure!!

A cam Ed Curtis specked out for, he called the "Godfather". 230/236 112 LSA. Any chance it's an FTI/Ed Curtis Cam?

Maybe 20-25rwhp over the old setup?

A little for the cam, a little for the mill, and a little for the exhaust.

It's an Ed Curtis cam yes...I pretty sure.

I'm hoping for a good 25+ thunderstruck, even a 35, depends on the dyno.

Are the heads stock other than being milled? If so I would say between 420-430rwhp.

Probably between 440-450 then. I had a pretty much identical setup in my old SS and it made 440rwhp through a 9"

I ended up selling that cam "Godfather" as called by Ed Curtis (230/236 112 LSA) along with AFR 205 heads to a guy, well we actually traded; I got Fikse wheels, he got the cam and heads. Anyway, he made 440 rwhp and over 400 rwtq with that setup through an M6, stock gears, LS6 intake. Yes, that's 440 rwhp and over 400 rwtq with an LS6 intake. I don't care what anyone says, Ed Curtis cams kick major ***. I'll get using him again for my future setup.

BTW, where did you get the cam from? Did you buy it used?

I did not see you had ported the heads as well. That will get you a good bit more.

I bought it new and got it by a sponsor here; New Era..

440 is very good with LS6, but we are talking about AFR heads compared to my CNC 243. I wonder how much hp AFR is worth over mine.

did you ever dyno that new 230-238 cam? this grind really seems to fit my needs..

No I did not but using the online calculators for weight/track times it is showing between 395-415rwhp (depending on the calculator) using slips uncorrected for DA. (DA was ~1300ft last time out).

Still need to iron out the tune for a/f and stuff. Feels great on the street for sure though.

New best mph is 112mph. Previous best was a 110mph (but only once, the rest were 108-109mph).

Was it an off the shelf cam or a custom grind? Yeah, New Era has some of Ed's cams.

I was really impressed with those numbers he made. I would have made the same, or better than that on my car. He had a Y pipe setup with cat back and I have true duals. When I filled out the custom cam sheet, I specified that I wanted to make close to 450 rwhp and have a good, flat torque curve, making at least 400 rwtq and Ed came through.

I'd say the AFR heads may help with more torque, but in overall HP, maybe good for another 5 rwhp over your CNC'd 243's. Keep us updated on what she makes.

I was hoping for 115-116mph but I forget the car is a 3700+ lb brick sometimes...it runs a good bit harder in the 1/8th before the aero kills it off some.

I'm getting ~92 mph in the 1/8th, up from 89-90mph.

Well the cam was named custom, but the grind was tried before I guess, which doesnt bother me. Its not an off the shelf cam. I searched for it and didn't find anything except an old thread about a gto making 440rwhp.

i'd say 425rwhp on a Mustang dyno. If the heads work really well with the cam/exhaust then maybe 440. Must be fun on the bottle? Do you spray a 150 shot with the stock rear on the street?
