Default anyone know anything about these (factory?) seats?

I saw this craigslist ad earlier, and saw the seats. I've never seen them before but they certainly look factory. Were these an option on the vert only or something?

thanks,
Eric

My 2002 convertible seats look like any other 4th gen leather camaro seats.

Those look like after market covers. The back seat is a little loose in one spot.

I'd like to know where he got them.

I never knew the story behind these seats either. They are not LT1 covers. They have a different pattern and are much thicker. I looked at two LS1 cars several years ago that had these. The owners stated that they were oem seats. My best guess is that the seats were recovered, and these covers are the gm replacement that dealers were given access to if someone wanted their seats redone under warranty.

Their not LT1 seats. At the time they were GM licensed aftermarket covers. Those are the leather seat covers the F-cars got when leather was installed by the dealer as an afterthought. Like in an instance the owner wanted leather in car that had cloth, or they were just added to help sell the car. It was an affordable alternative for a dealer, as putting the actual OEM covers in a car would not be cost effective as adding the OEM leather after the car was sent to the dealer was substantially more $$$ than ordering it to begin with from the factory .\ There is a firebird version with this pattern as well, for both the base and articulating seats.

So I could see why someone would think they are OEM seats as they were in the car when it was purchased new.

Everything about the LT1 leather is better IMO.

It seems thicker to me, more durable. The LS1 leather feels cheap/thin.

That being said, in 20 years OEM LT1 leather will be impossible to find since its fairly difficult now.
