My true duals out the back... PICS
I decided I wasn't going to settle for anything less than true duals over the axle with a decent sized muffler. I had an off road y pipe on my TA when I used to street drive it, and had it not been for being young I would have realized how horrible it sounded. My Firehawk wasn't going to sound like **** if I could help it.
Anyway I ordered flowmasters "u-fit" kit minus their mufflers from jegs. Form the pictures it looked like it could be made to work. I also ordered 6" round magnaflow mufflers and flowmaster scavenger turn downs.
I pulled the QTP headers off of my TA and went to work on the Firehawk. Here is the end result.
The drivers side pipe looks low, but it has way better clearance than my old TSP ORY.
I ended up removing the heat shield and the pan hard bar brace to make everything fit over the axle. My TA went 5 years without a pan hard bar brace so I don't see any problems there. I heat wrapped the pipes over the axle to protect the fuel tank.
The sound this car makes is amazing. It's not too loud, almost no drone, and very little rasp. The drone it does make is so deep it really doesn't bother you on trips. I have never been this happy with an exhaust setup.
I just wanted to throw up some pics to show off my work. I probably have 12-15 hours in it, and that was using pre-bent pipe.

How is it restrictive if 4" is 4" whether it be oval or exactly round. Air will flow wherever it is directed, I would assume without restrictions you shouldn't have an issue......
That is my question, as long as the header flange to pipe transition is smooth it should work the same.

Looks like a place called mandrel bending solutions (google it) offers just what I was asking for. Each piece would be only $35-40 for each section as well as transitions tubes for the headers from oval to flat then you would either go H or request an X section from them. I think it wouldn't be as cheap as a universal but similar to the price of other kits.

Looks like you would have to cut the exhaust off to remove the transmission. Especially to take the drive shaft off. I pull transmissions out daily and things people don't take into account is having to remove them. A lot of the cars that come through the shop have fully welded exhausts and we have to cut them off. I hope this one is easily removable when it's time for you to swap the clutch or the trans. Sounds good though. The best way to hear the exhaust is to do a flyby with someone video taping it.

It actually drops out pretty easy.... The front and rear section are clamped with stainless band clamps just like the headers. I can have the whole thing off the car in 15 min.
