M/T VS Nitto DRs
I just picked up the vette in my sig. I am putting 690 to the wheels. I have stock z06 rims, I need a set of drs. I will be mostly running on the street. If I do run at the track I might buy a set of slicks. I have had M/T on my camaro and loved them. The only size that it looks that I can run in M/T with my rim is a 305/35/18. Now I see a lot of people run nitto drs. I was thinking about trying these out. I was looking at the NTo1. would I have to run a 315/30/16?.

Ok I was looking at some Toyo tires. i have a set of R888 305/35/18 for the rear and a set of R1R 275/40/17 for the front picked out. my rims are 17 X 9.5 and 18 X 10.5. Will these tires work? Has anyone used the r888? I cant make my mind up on this!

^^ Did the 555rs hook better on the street? I ran the et streets on my camaro and they did really well.
I have also been been looking at the nt05rs for the rear and the nt05s for the front. im just not sure what size to get for the front. Also what is the widest tire I could run for the back? Im sorry these are newbie questions I am just lost on tires

Nitto's, from my experiance, are horrible. My Goodyear gsd3's hook better than the 555r's did. Plus, 555r's are the only tire I have had fail me, ie blowout. The entire sidewall let go. I had never under inflated them, always kept 32 lb's in them. Never used them at the track either.

The nt05 are a very good tire for traction, they will also last longer then MT's..
If you want straight traction then run the mickeys..but, i prefer a little more life out of my tires. Even though 700 wont be easy to put down on a normal street.

690 to the wheels! I would go with a 15" drag wheel and a set of Mickey Thompson's DR ET Streets 315s or wider. I had Nitto 555Rs on my camaro too, liked MT much better for traction.

Running a 555r at anything above 25 psi will wear the centers out early and not hook for ****. I ran mine (and all rear street tires) between 20-22 psi for street driving. Really lets the sidewall squish to gain traction and helps the Nittos wear evenly.

I do... & they hook A LOT better then the 555r. I've owned both now. Still need to try out M/T but they don't make my damn size for 18" Which I don't get.. But I know from previous people that M/T are just as good but don't last as long. I've owned my NT05r since they first came out. Which was back in June last year. I was one of the first who had them on a LS1 Make sure you lower the tire pressure & do a little burnout & there hook good on the street. Even better at the track. I dead hooked my first time at the strip & even bogged because I didn't have it revved high enough haha.
