I have a SLP Cam in my car that has .559/.566 and running 02 LS6 springs which I was told are good for .570 lift, the problem is I am getting some valve float in between 4-4.5k.

So I am running Yella Terra which are heavier than the stock rockers, do you think switching rockers will help. I know the stock rockers are goin to be louder but I am not worried about the sewing machine sound.

I know everyone is gion to say go out and buy some 918's but I have to watch what I spend here, just got new tires and a bunch of other stuff.

i would watch it with stock rockers even, ls6 springs are good for the ls6 cam which doesnt have alot of duration and the lift is only 550ish, your current cam is much more aggressive...faster ramp rates, more lift, more duration, i would run nothing less than 918s or manleys with that cam, nobodys reported signs of valve float with 918s either....if youre hurtin for money buy a used set for 75 dollars off the board until you can afford more

You could also sell the YT, for the cost of lighter than stock rollers like the Harlan Sharps. Give Nate a call at Nasty Performance ---------------->

I think they weighed out at 23 grams lighter. Don't Quote me though.

Your pushing the limits of the spring anyway. The Terra's prolly aren't helping any. I'd change um and keep the Terra's.

Not all, but a lot of LS6's have hollow stem valves. The springs on those engines have similar spring rates as the stock LS1 springs, but they can handle more valve lift. Search for a deal on the Comp 918 springs. Valve train damage can get very costly..........

I think it's asking too much of the 02 LS6 spring with the cam and the YT's. As above time for a different set of springs at least 918's or maybe the Cranes.

The YT and valve float issue is over exaggerated IMO. Too many people are turning 7000+ rpm with them and no valve float for them to be the culprit. I think that YTs will make an existing valve float situation worse, but not create one unless your springs are at that point anyways. I think that valve float is more a result of insufficient spring pressure to control the valvetrain than is is a result of the added mass of the YT. Everyone who is having valve float issues with YTs are running springs that are borderline for their setups IMO. In your case, I wouldn't think your springs were enough for that cam in any situation, then adding the added mass of YTs only magnifies the problem.

I'm turning 7200rpms' with my setup with no signs of valvefloat. Preferably I'd recommend that you NOT go back to the stock rockers for 2 reasons.

(1) Higher possibility that they will spill their neeld bearings into your engine.
(2) At high rpm's a non shaft type rocker has the possibility to wonder from side to side, this being the case, there is the slightest possibility that your wondering rocker could fail and contact the retainer, if this happens, you can kiss that cylinder goodbye as you will lose your valve locks and drop the valve. This is a very rare case but still possible with a non shaft type rocker at high rpms'

Go with a better spring. I am running 1.7 YT's on C918's with my TR224 and at 6800 on the dyno showed no valve float whatsoever. Spanky is totally correct on his interpretation.
