Default why wont hp tuners read ECM?

i bought hp tuners from someone on here a while ago and i just tried hooking it up to my ecm in my turbo s10 and when you go to scan the ecm it says "no voltage detected". i checked the voltage and its getting volts and the ground is good too. i tried this on two different computers and it still wont read. can the interface be the problem? when i plug the interface into the computer it reads the serial # and the computer detects the device so im not sure what the problem could be.

Check the power at the OBDII port. With EFI Live you can plug into it without being plugged into the laptop. It will light the display which tells you you have power. Not sure but I thought the HPT had LEDs that would do the same. If you have no power at the OBDII port go looking at your fuses. Like the cigarette lighter fuse and acessory fuses.

It does have power. All fuses are good and I have no clue what else it could be. I'm going to hook it up to my dads silverado later to see if it can read it

So if you use a mutli meter you have 12v power at pin #16?
Also check pins #4 & #5 to make ground is present.

ground is indeed good. I have a test light that you ground one end and put power to the other and the probe lights up. That's what I did to prove power so i'm sure receiving 12v

Every time I had this error was because pin 16 had no power.

Hook your HPTuners interface to the OBD2 port only, don't hook the USB cable.
If the green led doesn't light, you need to check fuses and power to OBD2 pin 16

I did that to and green light comes on. Could it have something to do with the #58 serial data pin?

Key has to be in the on position to connect. Also, I have found that it won't connect if I have the scanner open or connected. Maybe it's a loose connection between the laptop and the obdII

This error means either:
a. your drivers aren't installed
b. you have a faulty usb cable
c. you have a faulty interface

Start by installing the drivers and if that doesn't work try a new usb cable if that doesn't work contact support.

This issue has nothing to do with the obd2 port of the vehicle in 99.9% of cases.

Ok the scanner was open before I plugged the HP tuners in so that could possibly be the problem. I only tried key in accessories position for a little but but now I know for sure. How do you know if drivers are installed?

ok hooked it up to my truck just a little bit ago. turned ignition on, plugged interfface in, opened hp tuners, and then tried to read the ecm; nothing... and when i plug the interface into the computer the interface turns on so i know the cable is good and when i plug the interface into just the truck it also turns on so the cables work. but i dont recall installing any drivers but when i plug in the interface to the computer it doesnt prompt me for any drivers like the directions tell me.

Updated the drivers and it works now thank god. Now I just gotta figure out why my truck won't start now.
