Which setup is best for street and track every now and again

id say 3500-3800 & 3.42's or 3.73's any combination is what would be your best midrange performer IMO if you want more street go with the 3500/3.42 combo if you want better drag racing #'s go with at least a 3800 & 3.73's

I have a Yank 3000 stall 2.0 STR coupled with my 3.73's, and it is very streetable, and fun to drive.

Going back to 3.23s would knock your 80MPH cruise down
from about 2870 to 2500. I find I get a fair bit of clutch
(TCC) slip if I give it a little pedal and the higher gears
would push this out a little (less pedal for same grunt).
I think 3.42s are what the automatic should have had.
But anyway, if the highway drone is livable as-is then
you should probably keep the bigger gears as the higher
RPM and lower gas mileage are about the only downside.

342 with a 4000+ stall is the best combination IMO

I have 3.73 gears with a 28in tall tire which equates to a 3.42 gear. I have a 3500 stall, but I am also making over 550 to the wheels.

I would say I agree with this statement, but.....
I wouls also say this is not a bad combo either. I ran 3.42 gears with a Vig3200, vig3600, TCS 4200, and then a YPT4400 with my car stock internal (bolt-ons only) and the car performed very well with the 3.42s and the higher stalls. I would just not go with what someone asked about in here...2.73 gears and a high stall. I would do at least 3.42 gears but 3.73's wouldnt hurt either

It has to do with cam powerband too.Based on that you choose your gears and stall.

Generally speaking, 3.23-3.42/3500-3800.

I have 3.23s, an SS4000, a bit of tranny/converter programming done by yours truly, and I absolutely love it for street driving.

I have a PY3400 and 3.42 in my 12-bolt. The car leaves like it's hair is on fire.

I do wish I had a higher stall though...
