Can I switch subframe connectors?

Question Can I switch subframe connectors?

I have subframe connectors already welded to my car. Can I get these removed (don't know how, looking for an answer to that as well) and have a new set welded on? Or would that cause too much structural weakness?

i heard of it being done before w/ a plasma cutter, dont know too much bout the structural integrity, how come you want to change?

I have MAC subframes on right now and I am not too sure about there quality / abilities. I was looking into replacing them with the G2 subframes.

I got the g2's well worth it, try posting on the arizona fbody board, im sure theres guys w/ connections to shops that can help you.

Well I know of a few shops that I can go to to get it done. I just wanted to know about how to go about removing them, and whether or not it is a good idea.

best way I can think of after doig many frame off restos on older cars.
Get the car in the air then get the wheels so the body weight is on them - simulated sitting on the ground. Then plasma cut or die grind the old wels. Clean the frames up and install new connectors per instructions. The risk of integrity loss would be if you cut the connectors while the front or rear frame could flex. While sitting on the tires shouldn't be an issue.

I agree with the grinding them off at the welds.

i doubt switching subframe connectors is going to be worth the time/money/effort unless your previous pair was a set of clothes hangers.

It would be worth the effort in my case - When I had the LT's on with a custom 3" y-pipe it would hit the subframe connector (KBDD) on the drivers side under hard exceleration. It was just too damn close the the subframe. If I had BMR or GW subframes on I wouldn't have had this issue.
