Default Any suggestions on heads?

I will be installing some TSP 1 7/8 headers, and fast 92/92. I would like to get a different set of heads and eventually a camshaft. Am I stupid for just doing heads for now? I just dont know if I can afford a new cam because I know I should probably upgrade my injectors to bigger then stock. If anyone has did this in the past and got good results would like to see what heads you went with.

243 heads from AI or have them port your stockers? Myself, I would go ahead and swap the cam while you're doing heads. If you buy heads they should come with performance valve springs anyway so the cost of the cam swap would be lessened in a sense.

I would recommend doing a cam swap at the same time as the cylinder heads as well, but its definitely not mandatory. We have several different options from PRC CNC ported stock castings to our aftermarket PRC cylinder head line to fit any needs you might have. Feel free to give us a call we are happy to help!

Check out the RHS heads from Comp. Their 220 as cast are very affordable.

Have AI either port your stock 241's or pick up a set of 243's and have them port those. Both of those heads with mild cams have produced awesome numbers and nobody has ever had anything negative to say about them.

AI ported 241's with a little bump in compression will put you right around 400rwhp while retaining driveability of your stock cam

You don't have to remove the top-end to do a cam, so you could get the heads, intake, and headers buttoned down and do the cam later if you want.

+1 dont let everyone tell you to do a cam at the same time or do a cam instead of heads. If you want to do just heads now then do it. A big cam has the potential to give you ~50rwhp as does a set of good heads, the difference is you need the supporting mods to get the benefit of a cam where as the heads you can keep the same setup until youre ready to upgrade the rest and still enjoy close to 50 rwhp

Just so you dont deal with the hassle i would do the cam and heads together!! But if you have time, nothing wrong with doing heads first, and then cam. That way you can really see how adding each mod helped..

I would look into PRC/AFR for aftermarket casting..

If you were gonna port some LS6 heads i would go with TEA, WCCH, or Livernois!!! Blows my mind how people sleep on these companies.

spicebird98, yea I guess that was my biggest question was would heads alone still result in some good power. I just dont know if I have the 2-3k for a H/C combo. I called a local performance shop who does all the work for our local circle track guys and said he would port my heads for 400.

Those are big boy pant heads.

If you aren't doing a cam.. I would make sure you get something that will raise your compression, it will help you mid/low range more.

Also will cut down on later cam selection however.

You will see a gain either way.
