not meaning to thread jack but just a quick simple question and everyone else can stay on track. Did you notice much of a gain from full exhaust? I just did pacesetter 1 3/4 non egr/air longtubes, ory, and texas speed exhaust. I feel no gain what so ever. I actually kind of wonder if its not running a lil slower.

The reason why you feel a loss is because you did! The low end TQ area has changed however that should be made up at the TOP end. What other mods do you have?

Your mods should be moderate at this point, meaning
Full exhaust w/ headers
Cold air or Ls1 lid
1.6 rockers and matching springs
3.73- 4.10 gears
TUNE-TUNE-TUNE-TUNE

not quite. Ran my buddy who i've ran 20 times or so. Always the same result. I get him by 2 car lengths 40-115. After mods....same thing. 2 car lengths. lol

Full mods are ws6 ram air with kn filter, lt4 km, and full exhaust. Thats it.

You always want more hp but you have to remember you want to have a nice ride and car that's built for the hp. Rear end gears lower control arms sub fram connectors all that I built my motor for horse power and not the car for the hp now I'm spending money on getting the car to hook up

For power I would do the LS1 lid conversion, a ported stock TB, underdrive pulley and rockers. After that its all internal

as many others said and i said as well, gears, you put a set of 4.10 gears in that car and you will feel like you are driving a whole new car. as someone once said to me from hawksthirdgen "a set of 4.10 gears will wake up that sleeping animal." just a side note, 4.10 gears with a good set of 295 or bigger tires = broken 10 bolt...

THe reason you didnt beat him by any more length is because untuned your car didnt gain anything from the headers, you need a tune to get your A/F right and then you should put buslengths on him.

If you plan on racing it I wouldn't waste time or money doing the gears. Save for a 9 or 12 bolt...
