Default Camshaft Help ( PVT ) Clearance

Been speaking with several camshaft companies about options. However they are all over the board on suggestions. So I thought that I would ask here and see what ya'll would recomend with my set-up. I dont want to have to worry about the old dreaded ( PVT ) issue.

Car is a 1999 Z-28 Stock motor.
1 3/4” ORY With hooker cat back.
Trans Auto with a PTC 3600 Lock-up convertor
rearend gear 3:42 I am almost 100% sure
Intake Fast 90 With a Nick Williams 90 TB
Heads are Patriot Performance Stage 2 P/N 2033
These heads provide up to a 65 cfm improvement over stock OEM versions. The 59cc chambers, will increase the compression on a stock LS1 from 10-1 to 11-1 Original Patriot Gold Dual .650” Lift springs, titanium retainers, Super 7 machined locks, custom honed bronze guides, machined spring bases, and viton rubber seals.
Thanks for all of you help.

Id say a 224-228 from tsp. You won't be able to go very big with chambers that tight.

No not at all. More compression=more power. Bigger cams aren't always better anyway. If you want a bigger cam you may have to flycut pistons. You want a minimum of .060 ptv clearance.

Min is. 060. .080 is better. But ppl have gotten away with less than 060. But its pushing it. Obviously the more the better.

Fyi .080 is considered tight by professionals on street hydraulic motors.

.080 intake, .0100 exhaust. Minimum. Period. Any less and your playing with fire. Stop spreading bad info.

Default Clearance

Everyone, thanks fro all of your input. Iam kinda new to the LS1 world.

Streetknight, I actually spoke with Geoff this afternoon about a cam. He actually asked me to check a couple of thinhs on my heads tonight. I did and will be back in touch with him tomorrow.

However, things may of changed a little as of this evening. I may purchase a 6.0 short block and just build it and keep the original 5.7 stock. Not for sure yet though. Gonna sleep on it tonight and decide tomorrow.
