As stated in my title I've decided to sell my '03 Mustang GT and get a '98-'02 T/A. I've always loved and wanted a T/A, and now i have the opportunity to buy one. Besides the obvious dings, scratches, and interior things I should watch out for; What are some things engine/tranny/suspension/body wise i should be weary of when selecting my T/A.
Thanks in advance,
Endrance

It's no different than making sure you get a quality used buy with any other car really. If you can, get it up on a lift and check out the underside for leaks. That would be my main check. I would have only paid half of what I did for my bird last oct if I had done that. I am having to replace basically everything that has fluid go through it at this point.

Great guide. Thanks for that, i really appreciate it. The getting it up on a lift part may be difficult to do though =/, and i know that's possibly the best course of action. One of the one's I'm looking at is actually owned by a shop owner so that will be easy but the other few we'll see what i can work out.
Thanks again.

If you can get it for a great price then some leaks can be overlooked and fixed later. That is what I am doing with mine, piece by piece restoration. I just wish I would have looked closer when buying and gotten a better price. Would have been more $ for mods!:drive:
But I fell victim to the bird excitement and pulled the trigger too soon. I am not sorry though. I love working on the car. It is a matter of pride to me being able to say I did all the wrenching on it myself.
Coming to the darkside? No, the truth is you've seen the light...

I like mustangs, ive owned 3 of them, from fully built to a few bolt ons, its so much easier to make power with the ls motors, the one thing i wish i would have done was bought a roller, you can get a real clean car for under 3 grand,ls motors have gotten pretty cheap, from ls1s,ls2,truck blocks etc, and if ya look hard enough you can find one with full suspension/rear, one just sold not to long ago and it was a hair under 5gs,which was a flawless car, then just build the motor you want, most of us end up doing a bigger motor anyway after the first few years, thats just something i wish i would have done, what was done to your mustang?

Love to see someone coming over to the LS1 world and refering to it as the "darkside". cant stand when someone refers to going the mustang route as the darkside. If every 15 year old girl has one, how can it possibly be the dark side of the equation. In sheer numbers the fbody has always been the underdog. Nice to see you seeing the light OP

I honestly do believe that, I've always loved the '98-'02 TAs/Camaros and I've always wanted one. In fact before i bought my Mustang I was looking into getting a Camaro, but life's funny that way and here we are now.

I say screw in and swap a built ls something into your car!! You can keep driving yours and build a motor on a stand and swap It in..

so you would suggest trying to get an 01-02? what were the differences between 98-00 and 01-02? also, i will be getting it M6 because i <3 manual transmission.
