Street Racing & Kill Stories - Cam/Spray 02Z Vs 03 Cobra KB2.2

Had a call today from a buddy of mine who has an 03 Cobra with a 2.2KB @ 16lbs. He has been beating some cars and wanted to race a quick car. We told him to swing by so we could head out and run. The car has bolt ons and makes 530ish. Both cars are on Hoosier DR.

I don't leave them all like that. My buddy has a 03 cobra with a built motor 2" kooks and a 2.8H KB on 23lbs and E85 the is door to door with me. He makes 740ish.

SVT would just claim the c5z had more mods then mentioned. Would need to post up a walked around video with dyno graph to set them straight... Then they would claim it wasn't a real cobra...

A Cobra with a KB @ 16 psi should be putting down closer to 600 rw. His setup blows. Does he have headers on the Cobra by chance?

everyone keeps saying his setup sucks... ummmm what "setup"? Its a strapped on roots blower on a basically stock car. Its a 2.2 liter on 16psi. How do we know hes not running very conservative timing to avoid detonation on pump gas? Why dont we look at it like this... that motor makes what N/A... maybe 265-275whp tops? If 14.7 psi is considered atmospheric pressure, then 16psi should just above double his hp... however take into consideration losing hp for spinning the blower. Im sorry 530whp sounds fine to me. This isnt a shitty setup on a cobra.... this is a mental fast setup on a z06 that is substantially lighter with what sounds like a better driver. Z06 probably makes 420-430whp before the 150 shot. So say it makes 600whp...and is 600-700lbs lighter... yea... that vid looks right to me.

There are KB cobra's with 18psi running about 600whp that ive seen, but also did he run 530whp on a mustang dyno or dynojet is the other question at 16psi i kinda have to agree with evangto87 especially if its done on a mustang dyno. Dyno jet its probably around 560-570rwhp at 16psi. Like i said ive seen close to 600+with 18+psi of boost on a dynojet. Again there are alot of factors and as metioned the tune would probably be the reason, type of dyno was it hot before they dynoed it meaning did they let it cool down and so on. Either way in the end doesnt matter the cobra lost and lost bad atleast he tried and as bad as he lost he let the vid get posted. LOL if that was me and if that vid was on tape( 80's ) i would've buried the thing in the back yard and called it a day.

It's a twin screw blower, but either way, 530whp is about 50 shy of what that blower usually makes on those cars. I agree that based on numbers the results looked about right.

For comparison, a good friend of mine has a 2.2 KB on a terminator and his car made just over 600 on pump gas. His car runs door to door with my H/C/I C5Z

Had about the same luck in my 01 Z06, Same Cam (233/239), Ported 243's, 347ci and 3.91's with a Steig Stg 4 03 Cobra had 3.5-4 cars on him from a 20 roll to the top of 3rd (85-90mph).

Thanks. Went to SAR last night. Crappy prep on a weds. Drove my car there (200mi) ran a few NA passes and spun bad. Still managed a 11.69@121 with a 1.89 60ft on motor and made a bottle pass which was a real spinfest. 11.01@134.5 with a 1.96 60FT then drove home. I'll be participating in a track rental soon Enough which will bring new bests. I think I can squeeze a 11.3@122 and a 10.4-5@135ish

They nay sayed when it went 11.5...again at 11.4....I worked on it more and got it again at 11.1@ 124.....I keep working on it and it keeps responding. My rear (:guns:7.5) has been keeping my et from getting better but the mph keeps goin up.

Thanks. Yes n/a and just bolt-ons......every bolt-on. It normally traps 126+. I made some changes and caught a really good day. It went 129-130.4 nine times that day. I actually went 129 once 2 weeks before that but I wrote that off as bogus. I recently made some more changes. I'll know more about how they will affect the car on tuesday when it gets strapped to the dyno.

I can definitely commend you running the number and putting in the blood, work, and sweat - but I dislike it when you pass it off as an average bolt-on swapped vehicle. It is definitely dialed in for what you have on it. You also fail to post summer times. I guarantee you aren't going to run as well now than you would off season (as we all know)

I don't go run it in the summer. I do other stuff and there isn't time for everything and I worked on ALMS cars for years at hot racetracks.....with hot rotors beaming in my face. So I avoid hot racetracks now. If it makes you feel better it runs best times when being hot lapped.

I've been on it a lot. Parents are about 6 houses away from our lake access slip. Got it a month and a half ago and already have 25+ hours on it. Would be much more if I didn't have the boat to putt around in. Last day of work is Thurs., Aug 2 and have until Fri., Aug 10th to be a complete lake rat. Will virtually be on the lake sunrise to sundown until I go back to school

I'm thinking about upgrading to a supercharged jet ski in a few years when I get bored with this one. For now, I'm having too much damn fun. Nice to get home from work, play around, and head to the tiki bar, tie up, have a few drinks with friends, and play around again

All jetski's are fun. I started a couple years ago with a Polaris SLT 780. It was a blast, then I got a Shuttle Craft with a Yamaha Waveraider 1100. Then I road my friends RXP and I was like holy shit. I found this 08 Rxp-x with 7hrs on it and test rode it and could'nt believe how much better it was than the RXP. I've had the Rxp in my shuttle Craft and that worked great. I have to finish the rails and I'm sure the RXP-X will handle the Shuttle Craft even better.

lol all my buddies have RXP's my friend actually has one with a custom side mount with a gt35r turbo that does 88-90 on gps untuned right now, i also have a buddy who put an FZR motor on boost in a GP shell. Down here in miami people are doing 100+ on swapped GP's.

People do some crazy ass swaps on ski's anymore. I start tinkering with mine next year. I'd like to see it go in the mid 70's. You gotta be careful, you can make them unreliable pretty easily.

I love riding mine too much. Until the warranty is out, I'm not doing anything to deter reliability. I've went 61mph on water that definitely wasn't glass before and a full tank of gas. I'm content with my NA heavy new entry class waverunner that seats 3 for now.

No I don't. But I think you have a good ski to mod up. The problem with ski's are it don't take much to make the unreliable. My friend with the hotrod rxp has broken all kinds of stuff......even twisted a prop shaft:eek2:
