So a few of us got together and decided to get some runs in at No Limit Raceway. I was going to bring the Trans Am but fried my 3-4 clutches,,,,again,,,,,:ripped: 4l80e with a trans brake on the way:)

First it should be said that this track sucks when it comes to prep. We showed up and tech'd in early. It's a pretty quiet track so getting runs in is easy. We had some issues with Huggers nitrous spraying properly which we were able to fix later on. I had a few good runs. My best run was against Jay although he was spinning a bit and nitrous no worky.

Willizm - 335xi - 6at - air filters, chargepipe, downpipes, FMIC, and Cobb AP stage 2 tune.

Hugger1975 - Z28 - 6mt - H/C/I, 9" spool,

Enjoy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Gza8JpGAmE

I didn't think I could even hang with his car, but even with all the disadvantages of crap prep and nitrous not working his worst pass still beat my best pass. I slept the light a bit and that cost me. I'm happy with my sedan though. Overall I was running consistent 12.6's with a 1.8 60'. Hugger was getting a bit faster once we got the nitrous running properly.

Side Notes:

Mach1 - Bolt on's ran high 13's, I tried to lane with him but he ended up running a minivan. We believe the minivan one too! It did sound like either a srt4 or 4g63 swapped minivan with not much done. It ran mid 13's i believe.

Civic - ran bottom 14's, it was a gutted and gsr swapped car. Didn't lane with it.

MazdaSpeed6 - Got a run in with this guy. He showed up with a group of guys. We setup a race but the owner wasn't confident in running it so one of his friends did. I put a good 4 lengths on him in the trap. I was 12.6 to his 13.5 IIRC.

Caliber srt4 vs Light bolt on 06 GTO - The gto kid I guess was confident so he ran the srt4 who had exhaust, dp, intake and tune. The SRT4 one by a length on the gto. It was pretty funny overall.

No worries, another time though. It was a good time. Redctsv came out with us and another one of Huggers friends showed up.

I wish the mods didn't close that thread I started because it was focused to SRK regulars. Whatever, water under the bridge

So whats up with these 3-4 clutches dude? I just fried mine in a 3000 dollar trans. Fried 3 of them in my last car!!

Nice races.

Why is Hugger so slow? It looks like there is a bunch of time left in his shifts....but I would still think it should et and mph better. Is it a slow or high altitude track?

dunno, It's a pretty common problem and think it's due to heat build up and having too much raw wheel horsepowerz.

I'm going 4l80e and giving up on it

Track was prepped poorly and I think he had to lift a few times to minimize wheel spin early on. He trapped 4mph faster at the end and started to pull away.

Still??? He is in bolt-on territory with runs like that. He should be in the 120 range for his trapps, probably more but his gear is holding his trap back a bit.

why was he shifting so slow? Theres a lot of et AND mph left in those shifts.

I think he is geared with 4.10's, but I'm not sure though. He had faster runs that day, but if you can't bury the throttle until 3rd gear you aren't going to trap that great. Track was shit and I'm AWD. I can run consistent whereas fbodies are a little more traction limited. He has ran high 11's IIRC at byron.

At the end of the day my car did well and still got beat even with traction issues.

Will car is a beast!

Dan will jump in here since I let him run it too.
My 1-2 and 3-4 is quick, my 2-3 is a lil slow.
I was in and out of the gas thru 1-2.

I gained 28-20mph from the 1/8 thru 1\4 though.

Def dissapointed but after 8 hard passes (if u can call them that since I was on DR and a spool and coulnt get under 1.9 slippin the clutch thru 100 feet) but I drove her home 90 miles without a hiccup :-)

I need to get back and drop the bitch at 5k with nos at full tilt to really get her goin.

And yes, I have 411.
I've never been at redline in 4th before this dayy but I tripped the limiter a few times goin thru the trap yesterday. Odd? Normally I am at 4500 and fig I culd go steeper gears till this happened.

Was fun as hell. First time I got to spray balls out. Eve outa the hole. I actually quiet enjoyed the hit even thought the slip doesn't show it, it was a blast to see my winter nights till 3am installing it myself purge and the hit in 3rd and 4th.

We will all prob go to Byron once more and I have to decide if I wana run the hugger or the newly modded slobalt

Thanks, I can guarantee that I was the quietest 12 second car there while other loud and obnoxious cars were slower. I know I opened some eyes of the die hard old muscle types. "Just another prick in a slow bimmer, wait, did it just run mid 12's WTF?!?!?!"

Gotta go to Byron from now on. That track is far better prepped. Wait, Aren't you supposed to be riding roller coasters and eating cotton candy? Kindly:gtfo:<---I couldn't resist

Yeah NLR is a garbage track.

I hear ya for sure. The last time i ran there was about 5 years ago. Now Track prep is non existent thats for sure and it didnt help either that the da according to the drag times was 2200ft. every car there except for wills awd bimmer and a few stalled autos were spinning bad out of the hole. I knew traction was going to be an issue when the first car, what appeared to be a stock mach 1 with hoosier drag radials spun all of first chirp the 1-2 and then 2-3 shift and ended up running low 13s all day at like 103 mph. I swear i saw a few trailered cars make a 1-2 passes spin like a mofo and feather the throttle, then afterwards load em back onto the trailer and leave.
I dont know what all of huggers mods are but i will let him chime in on that, all i know is that that the nitrous is a 110 dry shot. I ended up making 3 passes in huggers car (first time driving an fbody in like 6 years at least) lets say his 2-3 and 3-4 was a bit tricky to hit. 1st pass i had the nitrous armed, i was not used to the 4.11s and how quickly the shift light came on( i have a c6z06 and my 1st gear goes to 60mph) nailed the 1-2 went to hit the 2-3 and was locked out of gear, i coasted for a bit was about to abort the run and said F it and put it back into 3rd and hit 4th no problem. ended up with a 1.95 60ft 5.3 330 1/8 trap speed was 76mph and ended up running a 13.4 at 110. After getting a few pointers from hugger who said i had to really push 3rd to get it in and angle 4th a bit, i went back to make another pass, i forgot to arm the nitrous right and ended up doing an n/a pass. After a terrible burn out i launched like at 3k spun bad hit the 1-2 perfectly spun a bit babied the 2-3 just a bit, and nailed the 3-4 like my previous pass. Ended up with 60ft of 2.0, 330=5.5 sec(yeah i spun really bad) 1/8 i dont remember exactly but i think i trapped 89mph and ended up with a 12.67 at just under 115mph.
last run i armed the nitrous right and ended up running a car that went 11.89 at 115. I treed that guy but spun bad and ended up about almost 2 car lengths back. my 60t was a terrible 1.96 to his 1.60, but still managed a 5.2 sec 330 foot nailed the 1-2 shift and i stopped the other guys pull and began to reel him in hard, im right at the guys quarter panel shift light comes on and and im thinking about to freight train him , go to hit 3rd and get locked out i was like noo, dropped back over a car, i finally find 3rd and get back on it i stop his pull and again an begin to creep back im at his back bumper shift light comes back on go to hit the 3-4 shift and get locked out again! I was like WTF and just aborted the run and ended up coasting and hitting the brakes early. But still missing 3rd gear i still went 8.1 at 88.55 mph and after missing 4th and hitting the brakes early i ended up with 13.2 at 75mph.

This is why I don't like 4.10 much. Just when ya get goin good you run out of gear. What rpm are you turning? I went 122 hard on the limiter a good bit before the trapps @6800 on stock height tires. Just a fyi, the gear calculater on fbody.org was about 3-4mph faster than I could go with 4.11.

How old are those MT's? I wonder if they dry out over time because you haven't driven it much in the past two years. Just feeling them compared to mine they don't feel as soft.
