Default My NA LSX spun a bearing after only 500 miles... The rebuild

That is all it lasted in my 08 Z06... I bought this motor thinking I woud never have to worry about the motor again, so getting only 4-500 miles out of it was a bit depressing especially after a 1 week motor SWAP turned into 5months.... Anyway, It has been down a couple of months now and I have decided to do the work myself with the help of a cousin of mine. We started pulling it out today and think I may have it completely out by tomorrow or Friday.
Question, I need your opinion on who to take it to to get machined. I am absolutely done with sending my car or motor out to anyone that is out of town, my car has been down way too long and I have had extremely bad experiences doing that...

So here are some of the shops I have heard about.
Kim Barr in Garland
Bud Morgan (Morgan and son) in Grand Prairie
Watt something??

Anyone want to steer my away from any of those or anyone have a better place in mind?

INFO on the build, 454 lsx, wcch stg 3 heads, fast 102 and a bunch of other goodies..
I haven't posted on here but some of you may have seen me around in the DFW. Here is a pic of the car..

Here it is at Dallas raceway.. Left very soft and managed a 10.60 with a 1.60 60ft on 19" drag radials

Ray Little is the man you are looking for! I lost his number but I'll see if I can dig it up. What pan/pump are you running?

I wish I knew. Shavings were found in the filter after I was seeing my oil pressure drop and rise out of nowhere.

Thank you sir! Where is he located. What kind of work have you seen him do or has he done for you?
It was an 454 lsx crate motor. The crank was replaced with a long about one to keep it a dry sump system.

Sounds familiar... Mine did the same after the machine shop nicked a rod journal when putting the short block together... Hard to find a good shop anymore... Nickens Bros in Conroe is the only one I trust.

My vote is for Houston Racing and Balancing in Pasadena. These guys are country and build a ton of full race engines.

Automotive Machine in downtown Ft. Worth did my LS road race motor many years ago. Awesome shop and reasonable turn-around and pricing.

Also I would think about Wayne Calvert in Denton. He did the LT1 motor in mine and several other road racer's cars. Hard to find a performance shop that has been around for 50+ years under the same name and in the same location. Must be doing something right.
