Default scorpion roller rocker arms

I'm going to replace my factory rocker arms with a set of roller rocker arms. A friend recommended the Scorpion roller rockers over Harland Sharps. Anyone have a recommendation for me?

he didnt ask about the YT's....

the scorpion rockers are good, but not made for daily driving.
less prone to failures than the Harland Sharp rockers, and they are a Much better rocker than YT's/Harland/Comp.
but if I was going to Daily Drive them, for the price, I would buy the YT's or a set of Comp rockers...

or, you can spend a few more dollars and buy a set of Jesel's and not have to worry about anything.

they arent very good, and neither are the YT's, theres only about 100 threads about them both breaking and ****.

stock rockers are just fine with the trunion upgrade unless you need roller rockers for heads with bronze valve huides, OR you are running more than .630 lift.

otherwise, stock rockers gets my vote

What is your current setup? The stock rockers may be the best option depending on your setup and you may be simply throwing money somewhere that it is not needed and could be better spent elsewhere.

I'm running the ms4 cam with stock rocker arms. I am rebuilding the motor and noticed the tops of the valve stems are a little mushroomed. I just figured the roller tipped rockers would help prevent this with the ms4.

intake is .649 lift If I recall correctly
so he could definitely use a set of roller rockers...

what valves are in the heads? brand and material?
you may just need some lash caps

Thats correct. .649 on the intake and .609 on the exhaust. I'm not shopping price. I want reliability. I guess I should have asked what are the most reliable rocker arms out there?

If you want rocker arms that will last a lifetime then get the jessel mohawk series, but be prepared to spend over $1000

for what you are doing, the sportsman series Jesel is a much better option...
no need to go with the mohawk stuff...

I can only comment on Scorpion rockers for a first gen SBC. They are all I will run. Made in USA with USA bearings. High quality, never a problem.

Jessel rockers are all really nice and cant go wrong with any of them, although some of them are a bit more expensive when the lesser would suffice.

I've been running the scorpions for nearly 10k miles with redline set at 7k since the car pulls till about 6800. No issues at all. Their ONLY downside is that they are a tad heavy over the nose. Most documented failures are from the OLD scorpions. But folks bring the old info back up. The have a lifetime warranty.

I would also vote for the stock rockers with trunion upgrade if lift isn't too crazy.

Some of the Jesel rockers are not designed for high lift due to the design of the bottom of the rocker. Check this out if considering them and call Jesel and speak with them. Last I knew (which was a couple of years ago) they had not changed the design for higher lift.

Why not just go with OEM rockers with the trunion upgrade? Honestly the weight saved by going that route is a giant plus. Theres a group buy right now for $120 shipped i believe.
