newbie wanting to get and install cam but need help???
So I'm a new guy to the ls1 world I have a 2000 Camaro ss with hooker lts hooker y pipe and slp loudmouth 2 slp intake lid and a lil tune and I was thinking bout doin arp head studs and a cam and I was wondering what cam or how to decide what one would be good for me you guys would suggest I want my power band to start around 3500 to 4000 rpm. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would skip the arp head studs and buy a LS6 intake manifold with the stud money. There is no reason to stud the motor unless you are going forced induction or no2 in the future.
Cam, I would look at texas speeds 228R on a 114 lsa for good street manners, 112 if you want a little more power and a choppy idle.
I would also add a ls2 timing chain and a ls6 oil pump to the cam swap list. Don't forget you'll need to swap valve springs and pushrods with the cam swap.

Are the 112s streetable I love the choppy idle sound but are they good on the streets?
Will I need new valves also?
What push rods are needed and what's the difference between the ls1 and ls2 timing chain?

Search, read, search, read... or the guys at ws6 store were who I found to be most helpful when matching and buying parts for my first cam swap. It will be much faster than waiting to weed through the BS on here. They wont sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need. There are a ton of 112°LSA cams on the street, even less.

No just stiffer springs and you can add titanium retainers if you want to spend the $$$ not a must though.
I would buy a push rod lenght checker and measure your self after the new cam is in and then order the proper length... Stock is 7.4"
I ran a 224 on a 112 lsa before going forced induction and it's fine on the street, just get the car tuned when your done, it will probaly die alot at stop lights and such.
