Main Bearing Clearances HELP

Main Bearing Clearances HELP
Ok, im assembling my LQ9 408 shortblock and have run into a problem with my main clearances. I'm going by the factory manual of installing and checking clearances, sorry no fancy tools here.
Eagle crank, rods, and srp pistons, all brand new.
Originally had CLEVITE H bearings, installed those and plastigaged it.
with the clevites, I ended up around .0001-.0015, maybe just a smidgen more.
Not nearly enough clearance for an iron block (shooting for close to .0025)
So, I bought a set of SEALED POWER standard size bearings.
Clearance was just a tiny bit better
.0015-.0020
Still, not where I wanted to be SO
Bought SEALED POWER UNDERSIZED .010 bearings
Now heres the fucked up part. I HAVE EVEN LESS CLEARANCE!
All the way across .0001
WTF??? I thought the UNDERSIZED bearings ADD .0001 more clearance, in my case I LOST clearance... am I missing something? WTF am I doing wrong here? I need .0020-.0027 for my mains.
Thoughts? Suggestions? I really dont want (or see why) I should have to turn a brand new crank to get the clearance I need.

I think so too, under size are for worn or polished used cranks, and the .0001 would have only slightly helped. You need a .001, I think the mains you need are MS2199H1
Here is a link some interesting reading on clearences.

The terminology is sketchy, they are listed as undersize, but they say they add .001 clearence.

I used Clevite MS-2199HX to give 0.001" more clearance per bearing (0.0005" per half shell)
Also, I used a mitutoyo 511-169 bore gauge to measure everything. its a good investment that you might want to consider. Here is a link, Amazon used to have them for about $90 cheaper.
