Default Heads or Nitrous

Hi i have a 2000 camaro with a 3200 stall 3.73 gear bbk intake p&p throttle body long tube headers y pipe 224 224 581 581 112 lsa cam with 918 comp springs and hardened push rods, i want to know how much i will improve my rwhp with a set of prc ls6 stage 1 heads from tsp or a set of 5.3 stage 2.5 heads. The car is for 1/4 mile and roll races. I want to beat my friend srt4 with 400 hp, what would you recommend the set of heads or a 125-150 shot of juice? Thanks

Well only you can determine what's best for you, but a 125-150 shot will make wayyyy more power than a set of heads. With just the heads that SRT4 still may give you a run with it's lighter weight and all. BTW I have the stage 2.5/5.3 heads and for the money i'm very happy with their performance

If it was my car I would do the heads, if you still want more you can add nitrous.

thats the decision ive been at for a ling time altho i have a 370 and big cam, im still on stock ls6 intake, tb and stock 241 heads which are killing my motor. ive wanted to do heads\intake\tb for so long but just got a killer deal on a wet plate nitrous kit 150 shot for waaaayy waaaayyyyy cheaper then the heads\intake\tb and will deff make way more power. n\a is awesome but very expensive to make a lot of power. i make 440whp and ran a srt4 a few times this past summer that was making high 400s so he said and anything from 40 under i would murder him. we did a 60 roll just for him not good for me with my 4.10s and he put a few cars on me. id go with the spray, you will be much happier with the results. just make sure you do your research and get a good tune!!

Nitrous is cheaper up front but can get spendy depending on what your paying for fills.
Heads then N20.

You will gain more from the spray.
How close are your times/races with the SRT4?

$50-100 should get you there. Take that thing to the track a few times and train that right foot.

If you're talking highway, I'd say you might need some more power, but if you just care about the 1/4, and he's only in the high 12's, you just need a ton of practice. With LTs/cam/stall (ASSUMING YOU HAVE BEEN TUNED FOR THE CAM), a well-trained foot should place you in the 11s in decent weather.

The heads will be better the 98% of the time when you're not spraying. Nitrous is better if you only want to go real fast occasionally. I did heads/cam and added the spray later.

Our track is just a closed street with no traction this was my srt4 and this is where we race as you can see we dont have traction. The ferrari runs 12.4 and my srt 13.5

If you are testing at 180#s I would not bother rebuilding the lower end. As long as all the numbers are within that range and within a decent percentage from one to the next, the engine is fine. Like mentioned above, drag racing is not just a stomp and go sport. You need to practice your hole shot. On the heads versus nitrous, heads win out every time in my book. its all about volumetric efficiency in the long run.

If you want to make power cheap definitely get nitrous, that will easily stomp that thing, but if it were me I would get a good set of heads to compliment that cam. But ha since you are looking for good roll races and possibly quarter mile nitrous will definitely get you good power. Altho if you get nitrous do it right, don't slap a 150 shot on and beat the shiz out of it.

You will end up being close money wise with a nice setup as the heads but make 2-3 times the power. Nitrous.
