Default SLP air lid?

I recently got a ram air hood on my 1998 trans am, I also got the lower portion of the air intake off a ws6, the part that opens up more before the air passes through the filter. My question is, after seeing many people with one, why should I get an SLP air lid? Are there any benefits to it? If so how does it have benifits if its just an air lid?

I would put a SLP lid on your factory WS6 box.

I bought the whole kit a few years ago when I just bought the car (first mod). It's nice to know you have efficient ram air when you buy the whole system. It's damm expensive for alittle tack welded tin though. It's a better setup than factory...that's a fact.

No and kinda. I thinks it's one of those mods where you tell yourself you "feel" it, but it has more of a placebo effect. It's proven on dyno #s that you do gain 6-12hp over stock. And it's really a must to have especially if/when you complete a full exhaust..Intake, header, catback/duals, ect. It all goes together.

Just get the lid. You don't need the kit or the ssra with the ws6 hood. Just remove the baffles.

Performance gains are generally in the 10whp area. On a 98-01 has the AIR connected to the lid. You can either get a lid designed for the hose to fit, or just put a little filter on the end of the hose and tuck it out of the way. I did the latter until I deleted the AIR system.

SLP lid has the hole for it and comes with a plug if you don't have AIR

AIR system is only connected to the lid for '00-'02 cars from the factory, but not the '98-'99s.

Ya, my mistake. EGR is 98-00. AIR is 00-02.

AIR system is '98-'02, it just doesn't connect to the air box on the '98-'99 cars.

But you are correct about EGR being '98-'00.
