Default Exaust opinions

I have a 99 camaro z28 auto im trying to find an cat back exaust system for. Its totally stock except for a k&n fipk and a diablo tune. I was trying to spend less than $400 on it. I live in northern north carolina so if anyone knows any good resonably priced exhaust shops that could be another option.

Hooker gets my vote, but there is some other options for under $400.

SLP loudmouth Catback is a very good catback IF you never plan on going with headers. If you plan on doing headers save yourself the trouble and get the money to either drop in the headers and have a shop build you true duals or just look for an inexpensive used exhaust to hold you over for now. I made the mistake of getting a brand new SLP LM1 catback when I first bought my car thinking "I'll never need headers." Well, needless to say my headers are on and my car is going in to the shop tomorrow for a true dual exhaust build only a year later after buying a brand new SLP LM1. I wouldn't mind selling you mine but one of the reasons I'm going to duals is I destroyed my LM1 (which was a magnamouth) hitting a speed bump after putting in the headers, because it lowered the exhaust and speed bump caught the band clamp.

Another method is just buying a magnaflow muffler or flowmaster like 40 series and have a shop swap it out over the stock muffler.

I'd look at ls1sounds.com and do some searches on you tube. As long as you stay away from flowmaster all catbacks are pretty close performance wise so get what you like the sound of.

Chop the stock muffler off and get a flowmaster 10 muffler welded on. Put the extra cash towards something else (new headlights, tint, etc.)

My lm1 / ory / lt combo was fine until the cam went in. Now it just sounds like open headers.

+1 for the TSP Rumbler. Free flowing and cheap; however, it's louder than the Magnaflow, Hooker, etc, if that matters to you.

If I was limited to spend what you have for a cb then I would get a manaflow. I have borla and its my fav but I also had a magnaflow on my old 98z. I liked it. I say get a magnaflow.

I ended going with the lm2 catback I ordered from ws6store.com. Sounds amazing with stock manifolds and cats, not too loud and no drone when crusing. Just what I was looking for.

Can't go wrong with the slp loud mouth, you can easily change the muffler if you don't like the vicious rasp.
