Baby seats in 4th gens???
I see a lot of 4th gens for sale because a kid is on the way. I know the back seats are really bad, but is it possible? Is it safe?
I really want to get am SS LS1 Camaro, but we'll be starting a family soon. Anything else that I might like (GTO, G8), are $15,000-$25000. Big difference compared to a 4th gen. I have a LT1 Camaro that I'm turning into a road race car, so I'm very familiar with them and absolutely love them.
Anyway, just wanted to hear your opinions on 4th gens and babies. I have a feeling it's not a great idea.
Thanks,
Steve

If your passenger is short, it might fit. I've carried my daughter in a graco baby seat in the recommended position. My wife had to have the seat moved forward a good bit, she's 5'5" but her knees didn't touch.
If all else fails, show up with a baby seat and do the test with your significant other in the passenger seat and the baby seat strapped in properly in the back.
It's a challenge sometimes getting the baby seat in and out, but after awhile you get used to it. We primarily use our Mazda3 for baby duty though.
A forward facing car seat will have plenty of room when they're older.

I used a Chico one in the back of my TA... But very sparingly. It is a very tight fit into the lower cushion but it can be done. I felt like its so tight it could damage or tear the leather cushion over time.

It works ok for short trips....I have two car seats in the back of my 98. I just put a big phone book down first which takes some stress off the sides of the bottom. My kids love acceleration training lol.

This same question came to mind before I got my 99. I went from a supercrew f150 to mine. Ive yet to try and put the baby seat in the back but the booster fits just fine back there. It is kind of a PITA but they will fit fine.
My 3yr old loves the car and like another poster said, she love's the acceleration compared to the wife's Toyota Sienna...lol

Same here, my daughter loves daddy's race car. The Graco booster seat fits fine, never tried a rear facing seat though, guessing it'd be a tighter fit. My daughter, who is pretty damned tall for a 4 yr old has to do the "criss-cross applesauce" when we all go for a cruise night or a ride. My fiancé is 5'10" and I am 6'4", so obviously legroom is a bit tight on either side for the rear passenger. But yeah they fit in there. But we also have a Nissan rogue for her everyday commuter.

Sorry to revive and old thread... but my 5 year old went flying from a quick stop in my 98 Z28 in a booster seat in back. Thankfully it was low speed... the shoulder belt did not lock...Its a high back booster. I’m thinking maybe it wasn’t a hard enough stop to lock it... I have a seat only booster.. anyone have any suggestions??? She’s done in the car til I figure this out.

It will work
Hey-it should work just fine to Cynch up a kiddy seat. You’re going to use the style seat that is a solid one piece design and use the lap belt portion to cynch the seat down into the bucket seat. The shoulder belt also goes into the back portion of the kiddy seat. I have a 98 z28 convertible and purchased my Graco kiddy seat at Walmart. It’s not exactly a booster seat but my daughter is just 3. Kids love Camaros! Especially z28’s.
