Ok...outta ideas...head swap..and now no tach?
Alright...quick rundown of everything.
Swapped the heads on the car. Started it up...fired right up fine. BUT no tach.
i'll go ahead an answer some of the obvious questions. YES, it was fine before the swap.
- ALL connections have been checked at least 10x.
- Throwing P0342 code. (low voltage cam sensor)
- Replaced sensor with a new one.
- All grounds are secure.
- checked cam bolts and all bolts are tight (cam isnt walking)
- When the old sensor was pulled out...there was a small sliver of metal on it
Only thing i know to left to do is pull the cam and/or swap PCMs. Hoping that the cam sensor ring on the cam didnt come apart for some reason.
Anybody else have any suggestions?
(mods...put this in the right section if this isnt it)

How many wires are grounded to your drivers side head?
There should be a power wire, a ground wire, and a signal wire coming from the sensor's plug. You need to ohm all of those wires. Ohm the ground wire to the block and the power wire to the battery. U said you already ohmed the signal wire.

I knew you did, but I had to check. If it is a cam code, and it is not a mechanical issue, then it has to be a electrical issue. If the power wire doesn't ohm good then one of the fuses is bad. I will help as much as I can but that is all I am thinking right now.

Well we checked all fuses in/out of the car...(underhood and inside), All were fine.
Guess i am gonna check the wires for the 500th time again.

maybe when you pulled the heads, you pulled the drivers head too far out and tore the wire, and how the insulation is just holding it together. I know when I pulled my heads off, I almost did just that. Maybe not what you are looking for, but maybe just one more thing to check.

True, ohm all three of those wires by themselves to the block. One of them could be bad and you won't see it. Do you have a good DVOM.

i wont be able to ohm the wires till he gets back. But i will check those wires to make sure nothing is cracked or broken (again)
thanks for all the suggestions so far....keep'em comin!

There is a connector up by the front of the passenger side fuel rail..its white..two halves that connect together and its big you can't miss it, that is actually for your cam sensor as I found out the hard way. Make sure that thing is plugged together and working and I would say pull the loom off that part of the harness that runs along the rail and make sure the wires are cool.

oh and have you tested the wire from the pcm that is for the tach, just for ***** and giggles. if you have a shift lite hook it to that wire and see if it goes off at the set RPM.
i have been told the tach and cam sensor are related, but i gatehr you know that already since you are looking at finding the cam sensor issue

Use a multimeter and disconnect the sensor and the PCM connections. Check your resistance from the pin of the sensor connector and the pin of the PCM. If you don't have a pinout then I would get one real quick and check off the pins and ensure you have continutity from pin to pin. Also gives you a chance to inspect the pins. I think the wires may have separated inside the insulation. PCM might be bad but I would put more money on a broken conductor. If you for sure have everything hooked up right and the wires all check out then I might suspect the PCM.
