Default Which Complete Exhaust System is best ??

hey Fellas looking to get a new complete exhaust system for my 97 formula WS.6 i'm aware of the magnaflow and flowmaster. Reason for this is as everyone knows the LT1 exhaust note is weak and thats being generous. So basic requirements are i Want it to sound awesome and relatively high volume at idle and of course when hitting throttle as well. Performance increase isnt as important to me. Wanna spend 700 total install and all. Ill be taking it to a shop to have it installed which around here i've priced it will be 100-150. so take that into account. ok. advice and say 3 good choices for me would be appreciated.

Dynomax bullet pre axel dump ftw! Personally I like the way a dynomax bullet dump right before the rear axel sounds. Has a mean sound at idle at at WOT people will hear you from far far away. Can be done cheap aswell. I think dynomax bullets run in the 40 dollar range.

The Dynomax mentioned is just the muffler, you would need to buy pipes for it to turn it into an exhaust system.

When I bought my Firebird it had the Magnaflow system and cat delete, completely stock otherwise except a CAI. I think it sounded good at idle, and woke up pretty well when getting on it. I remember getting some compliments on how it sounded too. Not that it sounded really loud, but it sounded good, and I'd prefer good to loud.
I know it's not really what you asked about, I just thought I would throw it in there.

$40 for a bullet, not a complete exhaust system.

A complete exhaust system is longtubes, ory, and a catback.
Which unless you buy used you won't hit your $700 goal installed.

Get some pacesetter LTs, magnaflow or hooker catback and any off road y pipe.

i have a tsp rumbler on my m6 trans am with stock manifolds, sounds great. At times its annoying when you cant quite shift down yet and its a bit noisy but when the pedals down you'll love it. M6 keeps the rpms down when you have people who hate the noise or want to be quiet. Its very cheap, 250 dollars without tips, order some corsa clone tips for 120 or whatever and your in business.

un fortuntley with his car being a 97 he has the 2 cats, and no one really makes an ory for it and its kind of a pain in the **** to delete the on under the drivers manifold without taking manifold off itself if the bolts would even give way. Longtubes, ory and whichever catback you prefer, i had the slp on mine when i went longtubes and i love it.

LTs, ORY, 3.5" mufflex. You could get close to your $700 goal with pacesetter headers and y pipe.

With the 3.5" exhaust you get a little bit different sound than the 3" guys and have more room to grow. I would go with the Spintech muffler, I was going to get it for my car but its too heavy. The Borla I have now is probably half the weight of the Spintech

If performance isnt required, then just do a cat back. my borla catback sounded MUCH better with the stock manifolds. Went to LT and it seems to not hit the same pitch....

ORY= Off-road Y-pipe (Replaces your catalytic convertors). Your exhaust system goes Exhaust Manifolds, Catalytic Convertors, Single pipe over the axle into the muffler.

Cat back just means like it says. The system bolts on after the cat(s) and finishes out the to the back of the car.

Your car being a '97 means you have Dual cats.

Do you want loud? Then get the GMMG Catback or the SLP Loudmouth 1 Catback. The SLP is annoying to me but I have Long Tube headers and no cat so it's waaayyy too loud.

If you want mellow but with a good rumble under throttle, get a Hooker Catback or the Magnaflow Catback.
I'm going with the Hooker catback cuz I think it sounds the best.

My vote is for Magnaflow, damn good price (I got mine for 300 brand new) and the sound is perfect for a daily driver. Quiet when you need it to be, loud when you need it to be
Depending on where you live and how legal you want your setup to be depicts the header and catalytic converter choices.
