Half of what you will find by searching, is bullshit. And
determining which half, is on you.
Free, or nearly so: start with the TB - bump-stop, be
sure floored pedal makes dead-center-open blade.
Gently descreen the MAF. Change your air and fuel
filters (standard types). Remove unused weight.
Relocate the IAT sensor to somplace where it reads
ambient air, not engine-bay air.
Case of beer: get your fans set right and your shiftpoints
(A4) sensible (they aren't, from factory) by someone
local with tuning software.
Free but not worth it: "Free Ram Air"
Cheap but not worth it: K&N or other oily-rag filter

1) Throttle body coolant bypass. I live in New England and drove my car all winter without any issues at all with it icing one bit. Well worth the mod
2) Ram-air mod is worth it IMO. More fresh air is worth it. Even if there are no real big performance gains, gives ya more time to drink beer with your buddies and bullshit in the garage
3) MAF Descreen is worth it, less restrictive air flow, ties in with #2.
4) TB porting does tie in with #2 and #3. Once again, more airflow and less restriction.

descreen maf and port it up a bit.
port and bypass the tb
pull your exhaust mani's and port them
If you don't have a lid you can fill the silencers with hard foam to emulate a lid
seal your hood to air box and remove baffle
there is a ledge in the airbox area that almost touches the air filter. Cut that out and reseal it with some aluminum.....may or may not work on ws6's as they have a taller air box.
You can also do a little muffler bypass in the back.
If you can drive and have decent air this should get you into the 12's and trap 110+. Shouldn't have to touch the exhaust mani's to get there. These cars are getting old, do a basic tune up also. Reset your computer.

Do not "port" your MAF unless you are prepared to
spend a fair bit of time retuning. Good way to start
eating transmissions if you're an A4.
Coolant bypass is a feel-good mod but the TB
contributes close-enough to zero heat-up of the air
at high flows, and the heat loop serves a purpose
in some climates and conditions. If you live where
it hovers around freezing and 100% RH, keep the
heat.
