People with 4l80 in 4th gen plz chime in
I just finished my 4l80 swap and everything is working great but when I put the Trans in 1st manually it doesn't go It only goes to second???!!! Is there a problem ?? Or is this the way it is? Can I fix that problem some how?? Plz help

I just finished up my install on my 98 SS. I used the stock shifter assembly and took the arm off of the 4L60E and used it, I then slotted the mounting holes on the shifter cable bracket so it would bolt up to the 4L85E trans pan bolt holes. I actually did not have to adjust the cable at all, everything lined up perfect. Shifter goes from park - 1st gear with no issues, just like stock.
So far the 4L85E is great and is shifting pretty good on the 4L60E tune. Will probably do some shift table adjustments this weekend to make sure I hit my desired RPMs at WOT. The "slow67" relay mod worked fine for me also once I realized how to fully delete the three codes in the tune.

op did you do relay or bin swap/speartech cable for your swap? I didn't have the exact issue although if you have access to HPTuners you can drive and manually select the gears to see if it will shift appropriately and to identify if it's control related(PCM, wiring, sensors, etc) or if it doesn't then maybe it's something with the trans.

Back from the dead lol still have the issue .. Let me word it better if I'm doing 30 mph and manually drop it from d to 3 it responds and same from 3 to 2 but when I go from 2 to 1 it stays in 2nd gear ... So I can't do any low rolls in first gear I've jus been letting it downshift and go..
