Default T56 Lubricant Help!

What type of transmission fluid works best in the T56? I just did the level 2 upgrade.

I would tend to listen to the folks who did the level 2 upgrade...or the folks who sold me the neato parts to do said upgrade. It is, after all, partially their baby.

I use redline d4 and like it a lot. pretty much any oil even a synthetic is ok now because you have carbon synchros in your tranny

I've been using RL D4, and their MTL (in the summer) in my stock, 'paper' blocker rings, T56 for the past 8-9 years now with NO/NONE of the problems Tremec and others have sternly warned us of, from using synthetic base stock fluids.

I believed this myself way back, and ONLY used either mineral based Dex 3 ATFs, or the mineral based Pennzoil Synchromesh, until I said "what the hell", and tried the synthetic stuff, and had NO problems with; the blockers, grinding, shifting, or anything else for that matter.

In fact the ONLY MTL which gave me any problems was the Royal Purple Synchromax, which I dumped the very next day after install due to said; grinding, rough shifting, extreme 'notchiness', etc.
My guess is that whatever the 'Synerlec' additive is in this stuff, my 'paper' blocker rings 'HATED'!

Sam Strano has a VERY used and abused '99 SS E/Street Prepared autocross car with ~ 300K miles on it now.
He has used D4 in it's T56 from the get go with NO problems, and inspired me to try the same.

I've used regular NAPA, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Synchromesh, and Redline D4. I noticed very little difference between them. I'm running the Redline now and it seems to be working just fine.

I know what I'll be running in my personal T56 transmission.

as many have stated, talk to the folks who sold you the level package...main thing is to keep the fluid clean.

i use the dex 3 stuff due to the paper blocker rings...i just change it more often. i want to try D4 though or even amsoil.

I have used RP Synchromax and wasn't happy with it
