Default Can I use heater hose inlet/ return for water cooled turbo?

Guys, I am probably over thinking this question but I cant afford to be wrong. Can I use the heater hose inlet and outlet on the LS1 water pump for a water cooled turbo? (see the reason for concern below) The heater hoses would be dedicated solely to the turbo as the car doesn't have a heater hooked up. I'm concerned that the port nearest the t-stat may not flow coolant until the coolant warms enough to open the t-stat thus not cooling the turbo (Comp oil-less). I have searched high and low on the forums and haven't been able to find an absolute answer on this. Comp Said it will work "as long as both hoses flow coolant all the time." If anyone has any experience and/ or advice I would love to hear it!

I can't say for sure either way but would be pretty easy to test. Run the hoses to a bucket or something and fire it up cold.

Do the oiless turbos have a required water flow amount or anything?

How about pulling the t-stat and running without one.

Yes they will flow before the T-stat opens. Tstat just inhibits flow to/ from the rad.

what about splicing into the radiator hoses? Two 1 1/4 aluminum tubes with bungs welded in.

I appreciate the info guys! I'm going to try the bucket with hoses disconnected first. I'm not aware of any specific pressure or volume requirements by the manufacturer.

I ran a comp water cooled turbo and ran mine from the steam vent. Just run the steam vent tube to the turbo, then from turbo back to radiator. Took 10 minutes and works great.

Any coolant is all it needs. It will circulate heat through convection even if there is not much flow. You will be fine no mater how you hook it up to the heater hoses or steam vent.

I figured it out. I hooked both heater hoses up and started to fill the radiator with coolant. Both hoses were pouring coolant out. This solves any question as to whether of not they circulate with the tstat closed. Thanks to all that offered help and ideas!
