Which Borg Warner turbo?
It seems by far after reading a lot on here is to use the Borg Warner S series turbos. I'm looking to buy one here shortly, but I'm not sure which one.
What it will go on is a 5.3, with stock 862 heads, most likely a speed inc TU2 cam, and the car will have a TH400.
Car is a fox body mustang, and will be a street car. I'd like to stick with a t6 turbo and I'd like to see 6-700hp, with room to go to 1000 later down the road.
What are y'all's suggestions?

Your dealer cant do for you what Jose can.
So youre either stuck with a 5.3 and a bigger than ideal turbine... or an 83/1.10 setup that works now... but cant support your ultimate goal...
Buy one now...then another when you want to turn it up amd spend that 10% over cost twice....
Or buy one custom tailored to you unit.... once...

That's what I'd go with if I had to do it over again. The billet wheel race cover all the goodies. Be good to over 1000rwhp and less lag than the bigger turbos. Think you can get it off shelf from forced inductions for starting around 1699.

IMO you are limiting your ideal turbo choice because of an $8 flange. Cut it off and weld on a t4. Or buy a T4-t6 adapter.
You could always switch back to the t6 for your 1000hp goals. No such thing as a turbo thats matched great for 6-700hp and 1000hp IMO.
Making roughly 700 with my bone stock 5.3 now at 20lbs. With the s400sx3 turbo. 1.10AR 83mm turbine and 75mm cast imp. wheel. I believe it's a damn near perfect match for a stock 5.3. I have a wheezy 8.6:1 SCR (7:1 DCR!) and can still spool it up on the line without issue.
I believe it has another 100hp or so if I want to risk blowing this JY engine up to find out.
I think the larger t6 units with the 92+ wheels will be lag monsters on a basically stock 5.3.

take it from me. do it right the first time. i did no research and depended on a friend to recommend me a 1000 hp turbo for my 5.3. ******** got me a gt4294 and i had to end up selling it for less than half of what i paid for it and it was NIB. i ended up going with the billett S480/92mm turbine combo after many conversations with jose. i didnt want to spend the money on it but in the end i realized it was worth it to save the money up and get the right turbo.

LILHEMI I totally agree, the problem is my goals keep changing, I have a billet 83mm W/92 turbine now I'm looking to have it upgraded to the newer billet 83 or 84 and a 96 turbine.
Just never stops.
