So my car keeps throwing belts....
Because of my bulk under drive pulley. The pulley on the alternator got a little chewed during install and I'm pretty sure it's what is shredding my belts. Can I go back to a stock alternator pulley? My car idles around 800, and I have no ac of anything. Auto car though. I do have a small sub and amp, but I think I'm going to remove them. Anyone running JUST the crank pulley? Belts are getting too expensive.... Lol

well...you cant just run no belts, you need the alternator to keep the car running, otherwise youll just drain the battery. so if i understand this correctly you have an underdrive pulley on the alternator? and its chewing up belts? well if you removed and installed the alternator pulley you sure as hell can put the original one back on.

Try and figure out which of the pulleys is out-of-plane.
This is the only reason for shredding belts. Every
belt-to-pulley face "should" be static, no movement,
where there is contact -no scrub, no shred. That's
what you get when everything is in-plane. But if you
force the belt to walk or settle in as it makes contact,
there's your shredding.

I've never been a fan of overdrive alt pulleys, the smaller pulley should be avoided if you like to race your car, since you'll likely be spinning the alternator faster than it's designed for (over-reving). FYI, it's better to just bump the idle speed up a little if the UD crank pulley is turning the alt. pulley to slow.
