Default car just feels slowq.. suggestions on what to check?

I recently bought my 2000 TA. its my first ls and it replaced my 93 TA. I know the previous owner and it has not been beat to death, only has 84,000 miles.. when i got it the exhaust was hacked due to a cat issue so i said screw it and started ordering parts.. it currently has an slp lid with putilator filter, tsp 1 7/8 header with true duals, new O2 sensors. Frost tune. New master/slave for clutch, new plugs and 305/30/18 nittos out back..when i get on it its making all the right sounds but just not teal impressive. I recorded a so so run 0-80 and it was right at 8 seconds. When i installed the lid i cleaned the MAF so thats out noth throwning any codes or anything.. and before anyone asks my driver mod is just fine, my lt1 was a 6speed also lol... the only other thing i can think of is i put in ngk t5GP plugs and by my readings they were only gapped around .035.. so idk if that would be a cause..all in all im pretty disapointed in the way it runs so any input would be great..

For an LS1 with really no performance enhancers...zero to 80 in 8 seconds doesn't sound too far off. In fact, that's pretty decent.

Look at this 1/8th mile time in this thread....8.xx seconds @83mph.

Thanks basazz, that makes me feel a little better.. guess inwas just expecting to much from the ls. My 93 was kind of a freak.. with just bolt ons it was runnning 8.40s on street tires and pulled on a couple c5 vetts on the street. But i always heard ls1 built by the.gods blah blah blah.. one thing is for sure my lt had about twice the low end pull that this does.. it was a beast below 3k..

One more thing is im still on the stock plug wires but i doubt that would make a difference. I have
a very slight rough idle at times but i have never owned a sbc that didnt so im not to worried..

Just perception, part of which is that the LT1 falls down faster than a similar LS1 as the rpm climbs. Butt dynos are fairly ineffective.

that's how mine felt but that's because peak tq is at like 2000 rpm in an lt1.

LT1 F-body's with even less hp than I do always get me off the line, but I always catch up in the end.

The older SBCs just seem to have more low end torque. LS engines (at least my LS1) needs to rev to make power.

exactly, that's why a mostly stock ls1 will feel slow at first to a former lt1 owner... then as you start learning how to work it and adding mods you'll realize what the difference is.
