What mods does your car have? Any bolt-ons,cam or head work? I have a stock '00 WS6 Formula and am considering an upgrade from 3.42 to 3.73. Depending on mods, some might say 4.10s

Going for cam and head work this winter but want to get car set up first as of now it's pretty stock some exhaust and throttle body what would 3.73 change?

I'd go with 4.10's. 3.73's won't feel much different from your 3.42's. Bob

Agreed. I hear for M6 cars the 4.10's and 4.11's are perfect. Considering a pair myself.

Good luck with your build op!

Just realize in the 7.5 10 bolt which already has thin gears the lower you go on the gearing the thinner It gets ( higher numerically)

Not saying don't get the gearing you want just more of a public service announcement lol to consider you will be more prone to breakage , or to consider now to upgrade to a more stout rear end along with the gear swap , 9' , s60 ,8.8. Etc...then gear it however you want and give her hell

If you got an m6 go 4.10's all the way! I put 3.90's in mine and still don't use 6th gear unless I'm on the interstates!

I went with 3.90 when stock and cammed, then heads + cam. 6th is in the sweet spot for cruise, and feels closer to 4.10's without having that really thin gear on the 10 bolt.

4:10s. You'll love them. I got mine about a month ago and haven't looked back.

I have run all three of the most popular ratios. (3.42 3.73 4.10) I found that for my style of driving that the 3.73 was the one that worked best for me. Keep in mind that if you are going to go to the track and use sticky tires that you will be blowing up your 10 bolt. I have torn them up on the street with street tires. Best bet is to get a 9 inch or a S60 rear end and then you will be able to drive it as hard as you want. Aint nothing like a 6000 rpm banzai start!!!

I like the 3.90s. They use the same pinion as the 3.73 which is bigger than the tiny one the 4.10s use. On the street 4.10s to me make 1st gear almost useless is light traffic as its so short. The 3.90s seem to give the best of both worlds in terms of streeability and sotp feel. i wouldnt waste my time with 3.73s

Go with 4.11's, because of the 6th gear overdrive you only rev 2000 RPM at 70 MPH. First and second gear are amazing! IT WOKE THIS CAR UP. I installed the gears in my 2000 Camaro SS and love them. Im running 13.1 with the gears and a couple of bolt ons. I went with GM 4.11 gears and they do not whine.

Motive 4.11s if you can. 4.10s or 3.90s will do a great job also.

Not to hi jack the thread but, what's everyone's opinion for a heads cam 150 shot m6 gearing? With nitrous liking to be "lugged" some would the 3.90 be better then 4.10s?

I agree. I had 4.10's for a while, did a few passes on sticky's and fragged my 10 bolt. after a new rear, i decided to go to 3.93's and I absolutely love them. great 1st and 2nd pulls and still very streetable. You really need to consider the 10bolt getting replaced soon though. when they go, they really go. and with the mods your saying, if you throw DR's on it WILL go boom
