Default 6.2 sierra vs tuned ecoboost

this guy is a friend of a friend. they came over to my house wanting to race--- friendly runs no **** talk. always fun.

ecoboost has an edge tuner on the premium setting. 6.2 has a hypertech tuner and running on regular. both otherwise stock.

we raced in 4wd to eliminate the traction variable. we must have raced 7-8 times with basically the same outcome. ecoboost pulled a length + or - to 60 mph with the 6.2 always coming around at the top of 3rd.

he's going to do intake and exhaust next.

Nice the 6.2 pulls good up top for the junk tuner you have. Tune it for some 93 oct should be alot closer race from a dig.

Yeah it's the tq management that's killing my low end, plus the hypertech won't let me rev it high enough. There's definitely more left in it.

Ecoboost should've went with livernoise but that 6.2 does good work up too considering it doesn't have a good tune either

A set of longtubes and a nice tune would do wonders for the 6.2.

I need real tuning software. the hypertech helped a little, but not enough. I can't touch the TM or set the shift points properly.

Good runs, the 6.2 comes back pretty strong.. From what I've been reading the edge tuners are junk and the livernois and ssi/socal is where it's at.

i was gonna say, the EcoBoost is a 3.5L compared to a 6.2L. I would've expected more from the Sierra. With a real tune and a couple bolt ons, the Ford is going to start beating up on the GM trucks that have nearly twice the engine size. and get better mpg. I thought the 5.3L in my old Silverado was stout, hope the 2014 models are upping their game.

No need for the 6.2 anymore with the new 5.3L. 355hp and 16/22mpg. Pretty impressive.

the gm is still suffering from the factory TM. neither trucks have a fantastic tune. the gm 6 speeds are very hard to shift properly
