Lol, was expecting some wheels up action!!! That ol gal sounds fantastic at that RPM!

Gonna try some slicks or are you gonna keep with radials?

How the 1/8th mile and 60 turn out?

Getting there Matt!
Looks to have a tall first gear in the trans? 2.66?

11.5:1 diamonds with eagle h-beams. not brave enough to do that with a stock bottom end.

it's on a slick zane.

thanks for the kind words! yes, stock 2.66 first gear still. 4.30's in the rear and 26" tire. not sure what my next step is to work on the sixty. i know the first gear isn't helping me.

That 2.66 first gear ratio is a big impediment to better 60's.
So you left at 7800?, how much did the rpm drop when the tires hooked?
My next move would be to find a 2.97 gear set for the trans.
It sure is fun banging gear isn't it Matt!

hard to say, looks like 5600ish.

it's the best thing i've done for the car and my racing experience.

2.97 gears were weaker i thought? i'll ask Jonathan and Martin at Tick what they have laying around.

Yes they are weaker, but your engine needs the mechanical advantage of the deeper gear to get it moving.

K, couldn't remember if you were still on a DR. On 26x11.5x16s I was hitting a 1.55 60. But I was not making the power you are. With the center force clutch I could launch anywhere above 5000 and it would 60 the same.

What was the 60 and 1/8th?

Nice pass.

Looks like it spun pretty good on launch ?
Maybe lower the launch rpm 2-300 ? I know you want some slip with a stick, but looked a little much.

right lane:

yes, the tire slip is excessive. i've been low 1.5x already with a 5900 rpm launch rpm. for some reason the 2-step function of the msd box quit working, so when i hit the button for the line-lock/2-step, the line-lock worked, but it went right to the high side limiter.

Lol was going to say brave man if was a stock bottom end. My thoughts would to be a least move up to a 28 inch tire. My m6 6k launch I am at 1.51 60 on stock rear shocks.

nah, i like my baby tires. want to make it work. just got the gearing where i want it for trap rpm (just tickles the 7000 rpm shift light as i'm going through the traps, could pull a little higher maybe once optimized).

It doesn't look that bad to me, but there is a lot of spin. It's a fine line between enough traction for a good 60', and enough intensional spin to prevent bogging/dragging the motor down too far( which kills 60'). I'm sure you are figuring it out Matt. That's where the deeper first gear will help - it will allow you to lower the air pressure and setup suspension for more hit, to get better traction, while preventing the engine from being dragged down too far.
An adjustable clutch helps big time.
