Default A4 Cam Question.... Help

I currently have a TR 224 561 112 in my car now.. Will I benefit from running this cam? MMS 229 581 114? Will it work better than current setup?

I have bolt ons, a vig 3600 and 3.42's

personally, I don't think the gains would be enough to justify a cam swap....IMO

I think any gain, will justify a swap... Hell what is 3-4hrs of my weekend for a gain in 1/4 performance?

The more recent versions of the MMS cam make good power. You may need to shift higher to maximze the benefit.

IMHO, keep the TR cam if you want your car to still have "well behaved street manners"

I have a question about the TR224 cam you have in the car now. How is the Mid range power of you car? I am looking into getting a 224 cam and want to have good power all around. I already have a Y3000. I just dont want to lose to much on the low side.

The TR 224 will have alot down low.. It might lack some up top, but it makes a good bit down low and midrange.. With this cam and bolt-ons, my car went 11.94 @ 113mph w 1.64 60ft and a vig 2800

Sounds like a better cam to me. What the experts tell me, even with tuning, LS1 Edit, a 112 LSA sucks for a A4 car. You can do it, but better off not. Terrible time tuning idle, and not a great power band. What were your experiences? Thats why I'm going with a 114.

I'm wondering the same about the 112 in the a4
I just ordered a 222/224 556/568 112Lsa..
and now after reading many posts i'm questioning my choice. So how was idle tuning 99taws6 ///i'm running the stock convertor (in a vette).
Would i have been better off with my other choice of 224/230/ 581/588 114LSA???
Please any help here i can always cancel the order before Monday afternoon..

I know a couple guys that have the 112lsa in an A4 car... all you need to do is some good tuning and you will be alright. I just bought the same cam and will be installing it next month

Brian

After market cams need aftermarket converters. Your not going like the way the car drives with the stock converter. You will need a converter especially if its on a 112. Dont get me wrong, alot of a4 drivers have used a cam ona 112 but they have converters. Id say get a converter and make it work.

I'd say you should see an improvement in top end MPH with a slightly better ET. If I were you however, I would have applied the money you spent on the new cam to a set of good flowing cylinder heads instead. There's alot of horsepower to be gained with a well prepared set of heads. I think you would be surprised at how much even with with your current cam grind. Just my opinion. TJ
