Patriot Performace Heads?????
Wondering who has ran these heads and what the results were. Also what did you run, I was looking at Stage 2 LS6/LQ9 heads, but was wondering if I should go 59cc or 72cc????? I have plans of leaving the bottom end stock for now. Also what is a nice cam choice w/ these heads? Also plan going w/ 1.8 roller. I think I will stay w/ the stock intake though. Let me know what you all think and what else I should be doing. Also what do people think of the patriot stage 2 5.3 Heads over there stage 2 LS6/LQ9 heads?
GM high tech had a article about patriot 5.3 stage 2 fully assembled heads w/ TSP CAM, timing chain, and hardend pushrods for around $1,800. Was curious how this set up worked or if the LS6/LQ9 stage 2 were better for the extra 500 bucks. Thanks

The search feature will net you anything you would want to know about this subject. It's been beaten like a dead horse. The heads are very nice. For a stock bottom end, you would want the 59cc. This adds more compression which will net you more power. The 72cc's will lower compression and these are used on blower type applications where compression needs to be dropped. A good cam to go with on theses heads is the TSP 231/237. They sell this in a package also. The LS-6 heads should gain you about 10-12 more HP over the 5.3's. This is a very common set-up and has proven itself many times. Like I said though, go to the search feature and typ in Patriot heads. you will find more than enough info.

I've had the 5.3's and now have the LS6 styles, both are very good. If you are using anything bigger than a 224 cam.. you'll see a benefit from the LS6 styles. Also, if you are seriously considering spending money on 1.8 rockers, then you need to get a better LS1 education before tackling something like heads and cam. I'm not saying that to be a smartass, I'm just trying to save you pain and suffering.

I have the 5.3 with the tsp 231/237 setup and love it. There is also another individual on here with the ls6 heads, 231/237 cam with basically electric waterpump, turbo 350 with healthy stall go 11.1's with full weight plus roll bar.

have had my stage 2 5.3 heads and 231/237 tsp cam in for about 7000 miles now and a long 18 hour trip to and back from missouri a week after i did install. no problems at all runs great and pulls like a train. id go with some ther bolt ons like a ls6 intake for headers if u dont have them yet so u can take full advatage over any cam u deside to go with. than 1.8 rockers.

We get 418-424 average hp with the 224 cam and ls6 patriots. The 5.3's with a 226 cam and through a big axled 9 inch still put down 417 with alot of torque. These motors had stock throttle bodies, ballancers and small tube headers with full exhausts. We have a .030 6 litre motor with the race heads making very close to 450 through a very loose converter and the 231. It also has 4.30 gears which hurt the dyno #'s. We also saw 435 with the 231 and ls6's. Another vette showed 424 with our 226/234 cam and the ls6's and had almost 50ftlbs more torque low to mid. They work and are a great choice for the money. We are currently building a c5r motor to try the race heads for another vette owner which we will run a solid roller and a D1sc. Stay tuned.
