Agreed, better aerodynamics, lighter by 200+lbs., different gears I believe, but I hear they do lose more power through the driveline.

c5's use the same t56 and 3.42 gearing as the fbody if i remember, the z06 uses a different tranny and gearing.

True, but the drive tires are an inch taller than stock F-body tires. That's an effective gearing change there, if only a relatively minor one.

I think the most significant difference is the weight advantage the vette has. It doesn't have an enormously better coefficient of drag (.29 vs .33 I believe). Anyone have the numbers for frontal area on a vette vs a TA?

I thought C5's had the tranny and diff essentially built together?
or rather that the tranny mates right up to the differential.

That's the Z06 if I'm not mistaken.

To answer your question about the 350/360 T/A, that should be more than enough to handle a vette at any speed. Don't know that I'd call it "rape", but it should have no problems.

Yes. I beat one at the track and all i have is lid, flowmaster muffler, and all the free mods. They are really not that much faster than T/A or Z28 stock from what I have seen at the track.

All C5s and C6s have a transaxle. The transmission and rear axle are one unit in the rear of the vehicle.

A drag coeficiant difference of .29 to .33 may not look huge on paper, buts it is noticable.
