I am still searching for that perfect LS1 Z28, and I think I have finally found it. At a local dealership they have a 1998 camaro Z28, black, power everything, leather, t-tops, chrome factory rims, and most amazingly it only has 23,000 miles. They have the car listed @ $12,255. The only thing wrong with the car is that is has a dent about the size of a golf ball on the left rear fender, which they said could be cheaply repaired by some guy who they do business with. I took the car for a test drive and the engine is extremely smooth, and there were absolutely no squeeks or rattles when I went over bumps in the road. My question is, if you guys were in my shoes how much would you be willing to spend and what would you offer the dealership? I have the cash but am hesitant to spend $12,---(plus tax) on a six year old car. Help me out guys. Thanks

I'd jump all over that..If you really think it's perfect and don't think you'll find a better deal and better car, then definitely go for it. I think that's a reasonable price.

I bought a red 1998 Z28 A4 leather and every option, even the monsoon system. Mine had 45000 mi. The sticker price my car was 12900, so Id say that you should talk em down as much as possible on the dent, but overall Id jump all over that thing! Make sure to pop the hatch, and check how the dented fender lines up with the light on the back, and elsewhere to make sure it wasnt something more serious.

Ive been looking around alot for a Z and that sounds like a pretty good deal with 23K miles. It would have to be an M6 for me though. Nice car it is.

It's a decent deal but the mileage is the clincher.
If I were in the market I would jump on it. I might try to get them to fix the dent or come down a tad. It never hurts to ask.

I would make them repair the dent before I bought it. Sounds like a good find though with those miles.

For that price i would jump on it. I would look into getting a qoute on how much it will cost to fix the dent and then have the dealership drop the price by that much.

offer them $10K and see what they say. I personally wouldn't spend a penny over 12K. I bought my 99 Z last year with 50K miles for 14,400. the seller had all of the reciepts for synthetic oil changes and all of the maintenance, plus he had just put on a new factory SS hood on it.

I paid 11,200 for my 98 Camaro, all options possible, it had 19k miles on it! They were originally asking 15g for it. Im a good talker!! Dont pay over 12 for it, I would tell them 11, and then walk away when they say no, they will rethink and be ready to sell for 11

Make sure there hasn't been heavy body work or frame damage. Most people can't tell when a car has been painted, but I can spot it a mile away.

Offer them $10k cash and see what they say. Or tell them to fix the dent and you pay them $11k cash and thats your final offer. If they don't like it walk, trust me they will come after you to try to make a deal. If they want to sell it bad enough they will entertain your offers. A bad note to this some dealers don't budge and the buyers usually get suckered to pay thier asking price if you don't show them you know how to negotiate.

Search around some more. I've seen 2000's with low mileage going for just a hair more than that. Awesome miles on the 98, but don't let mileage be the reason you buy the car.

Spend five dollars and get a Carfax report to make sure its what they say it is. It is money well spent!!.

buy it sounds kike my lucky findi bought a 98 Z28 coupe with 30,000 mi. a62 yr. older guy car like a son could not drive till motor warmed up 160 already had catback k&n complete hurst shfter fan switch panhard traction bars 6 sp. only$ 12,400

I'd say go for it. I got my '99 SS for $14,300 last June. It has 59,000 mi.

i wouldnt pay over 10.5k for a 98 z28, i dont care if it has under 10k miles. truth is fbodies aint worth ****; great when buying, bad when selling. i wouldnt buy dealership cars either, there are plenty of good private owner deals to have to **** with the added cost of buying through a dealer.
