Default Will WS6 lower airbox fit non RA Firebirds?

I thought I remember hearing it would, but I'd hate to buy it and have to throw it away. I have a non-Ram Air Trans Am (regular hood).

No, the WS6 lower air box will not fit with the normal TA hood.
I have one on my Firehawk with an aftermarket SLP lid and it rubs the hood a little.
I put a peice of felt on the hood to keep it from rubbing the paint off.

Some cars fit, some don't.

I'd find someone local with a WS6 and buy them a couple beers, and try theirs out

Im pretty sure it will not fit. I have a regular t/a and a couple of my buddys have ram airs and just from the looks of things when all popping hoods i couldnt see it fitting.

There have been people who have done it. It was talked about a lot on LS1.com several years ago.

Let me clarify my early statement..

I've seen it work on a couple different cars with the stock TA hood.

Tried it on my Formula. Didn't work, but with a little persuation I think it would have. I didn't need to fool with it.. had my WS6 hood sitting in the livingroom

I may add a Ram Air hood in the future. This would mostly be for appearance as the stock TA hood is better from an aero standpoint. Are there any aftermarket Ram Air hoods that come painted in body colors or is that something that you need to have the body shop do? My TA is pewter.

Its a pain but I thought people used to just slot say two of the four holes and slide the entire assemply rear-ward (angle-ing the radiator a little more) and giving the hood room to close...I could be way off though.

I don't think any hoods/body pieces ship painted.

Patrick...I saw your post a while back on doing a heads/cam with stock manifolds...I am intrigued! Please let us know if you do this and what the results are.

I have had a WS 6 Lower air box tray on my non-ram air Formula for over 2 years now. It has a QMP Direct Flo lid on it. Some slight mods were required like notching the 4 bolt holes in the fron of the lower tray to allow the whole thing to slide back a but, and notcing the hood where the air lid latches were rubbing. Use the link in my sig and select the Car Pics folder. There are several pics with explanations of what was done. These lid pics start about half way down....# 27 or so.
