Default Got some new baseline runs!

I've changed a lot on the car recently so here is a rundown of its current trim:

The engine is an MMS 396 "all bore", 229 cam, LS6 heads, TTS headers, currently 476rwhp/455rwtq. The drivetrain includes an MMS "stage 1" 4L60E, 9.5" TCI 4000rpm stall, and a stock rear with 4.10s.

I've also made quite a few changes to the car itself. I put all the seats back in, power steering on, quiet exhaust system on, dsl, etc. All in all I added around 120# back to the car (for a raceweight of 3340#).

Before I go on I must say I'm really impressed with this TCI stall. It's so much nicer around town than my old ST3800 or TP4400. I used to hit 3500rpm pulling away from a light with the TP, now with the TCI I only hit 2400rpm. The stall feels as streetable as a PI2800/PYE3400. At first I was worried it was too tight and I wouldn't 60' well, but was really surprised at the track. No clutch shudder or lockup problems either. Great performance for a great price.

Anyway I've been driving and enjoying the car lately so I decided to throw the slicks in the trunk and head down to Irwindale for some TNT action. I was running in street trim (ps, extra 120#, 2.5" cutouts, 91 octane) so my hopes weren't _too_ high.

My best 1/8th pass of the night was 6.876@99.74, 1.519 60'. On another pass I had a 1.50 60'. Both were with a slight amount of spin. Right now I'm flashing to 3900rpm off the line with a shift ext of 5300rpm. After some more TNT passes I think I'm going to have Kevin@TCI up the stall ~500rpm. That should be enough to get me in the high 1.3s in race trim and still keep it really tight on the street.

Anyway the car is running great, still no sign of any leaks (coolant or otherwise), and for once the tranny is shifting at a reasonable RPM (6700). More changes and new times coming soon.

Good runs Terry, glad to see things are working out with your new motor. What changes resulted in power dropping down into the 470 rwhp range, was it the powersteering and quiet exhaust that did it?

The exhaust was unchanged but I had my PS on, the stealth airlid on, lower tire pressure, and a freshly rebuilt tranny. I'm hoping the tranny is just tight.

Terry,
Nice times. How is the track prep at Irwindale? I have been thinking about going there.

Thanks
Glenn

What do you think those #'s work out to, 10.8's or better?

My Yank 4400TPE that Col used to run is about a 4000 in my car and the car is extremely streetable too.

Track Prep is good there! I was launching the TCI off idle. Historically based a 6.87 1/8th on my car should be a 10.78, but who knows. My goal is 10.40 in race trim with this setup, 9.99 once I go to a big solid roller.

Not sure on the 4L60E, but I probably won't rebuild it again if it fails.
