I'm wondering if anyone is using this cam. I'm looking for a mild cam that should be able to pass NY inspection. The cam is also priced pretty good at $300.

Specs are: .560 lift I/E, 218*/229*, 113CL

Would LS6 springs work with this cam?

From what I am seeing on the various forums..I think there are better choices.

Just a guess though.

I have used the Gt-2? cam...the one on a 117ls. Thats one of the best cam secrets out there!! Thing idles like stock, and makes crazy power for its size. I have had a few make 380-390 rwhp CAM ONLY.

I'm thinking that Lingenfelter builds engines that make good power and are usually emissions friendly. I'm not looking for a lumpy cam nor do I want to set the world on it's ear with my dyno numbers. Dyno numbers don't mean that much to me because they can be easily fudged. Just looking to make more power and not have to worry about the damn sniff test. If anyone has any more experiences with LPE cams or a cam that would work in my application please speak up.

I've got the GT2-3 in mine (207/220 @ .573/.580 w/118.5 lsa). Exceptionally smooth at idle - dare I say better than stock? I've known several guys running this same cam putting down reliable power anywhere between 380-400+ at the rears depending on exhausts, heads etc. Not bad considering its size compared to some of these 'fat cams' out there with similar numbers. Reliability regarding street manners and emissions has never been a concern. Start it, stomp on it and smile. Mine put down 380 with their heads through manifolds and cats -- I've just installed LTs with an ORP <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> ...can't wait to get new numbers.

As far at the GT1 is concerned, unfortunately I have heard nothing about it other than it has a 'choppy' idle (that was from LPE) but hey, chop to their ears may be music to yours <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The car fired right up and idled like stock. I have to finish up a few things and I am hoping to get on the dyno next week. I am running a blower, btw, that is why I liked this cam - good lift for my heads, good exhaust duration for the blower. I think it is the same cam they use on the twin turbo 550 hp package (but don't quote me).

Like LPE SS said, dont know about GT1 cam but GT2
cam is amazing. With that came I made over 400rwhp with lpe heads. Mild and smooth cam. I know people who have that cam that claim to have stock cams. Thats how mild they are. Check the Z06 02 cam and you will see the cam is very similar <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> . People wonder Y the ZO6 02'
are so much faster then the 01'Z06. Lpe make great cams. <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

If this cam is so great why don't all the other manufacturers produce one like it? There must be a reason. All the cams I see are 114LSA or less and duration >220 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> The lift is good though.

Plenty of shops out there willing to sell the biggest cam on the shelf. Based on what I've read in the past I feel like some buy a cam as a conversation piece (dyno queen bragging rights) or feel that they need to run these babies up to 7000 to make power. I also have a feeling it has a lot to do with good 'ol fashioned personal preferances regarding the above mentioned and/or simply peer influences based on success stories with more accessible resources. That's fine...to each their own. This cam basically follows LPE's 'conservative' agenda in that it easily passes emissions, its streetable (my defn -- meaning power at RPMs other than WOT, therefore making surprisingly great power around town and OEM like idle characteristics). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Thanks for all the replies guys. If you have more, keep em coming. The LS6 cam is looking pretty good to me. It's cheaper and I would venture to say would put down very similar numbers to the LPE GT2. And it's cheaper, did I mention that?
