I need some Pro Tree advice
I plan on running the 12 index at the SBSO.The problem is I have only ran once on a pro tree, and it was'nt pretty. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" /> Any tips,tricks, or advice yall can share would be greatly appreciated.

as soon as you see the tree light up, hammer on it. it may seem as though you are going to red light, but you will get an awesome reaction time. it works for me all the time.

There's really no advice to give... You should be off at the first flash of amber you see on the tree.
You'll have a tough time trying to cut a light if you're footbraking the car. If you're leaving off a button, you should be able to cut a good light.
Is it a .400 or .500 tree?

Watch the Top amber light(the one just below
the staging lights)Stage fairly deep.
As soon as you see it,hammer it.
Pro tree is .400 and sportsman tree is .500.
Or is there a different system I don't know

I can't help much with the Auto. Sorry, and good luck.
01-Z..there are actually .400 AND .500 Pro Trees. It is easier to redlight with the .500 tree (obviously), so you might not want to stage as deep as you otherwise might.

i have only run on .400 pro trees, so cant help much on the .500s
with a footbrake auto, just stage real deep and go the instant you see amber. youll still probably not get a real great light
if you have a transbrake or clutch you can do pretty good on a pro tree depending how fast your chassis/suspension reacts. a couple years ago with a 6 speed i would shallow stage, dump clutch full throttle when amber lit and cut decent lights
with my new suspension combo and an Art Carr Rebel 'brake in my th400, even if a stage as shallow as possible and let go the instant it goes yellow i cut .340 lights. so for right now im having to wait a tad and try not to sleep too much. i might see if i can slow my light down enough with a taller front tire and lower air pressure in them to keep from red lighting if i let go the instant the yellows light up. that or i might also try a transbrake button with some delay built in (they make buttons with extra travel built in before the switch activates to delay activation up to .030 sec)

In a heads-up race, staging the car deeper for a better light will be offset by the amount of ET that you'll lose by doing so.
In an index class, you could use this to your advantage if your car will run under the index and you have to slow it down. That way, you set the car up to run the number while taking into account the lost ET from staging deep.
Some tracks/events won't let you deep stage on a pro tree, though... Plus, a pro tree should be activated very soon after all four pre-stage bulbs are on, so you might not have enough time to stage deep before the tree's already come down. If the Auto-Start system is on (like it should be at any kind of heads up/pro tree class), you only have a certain amount of time (once there are a total of three pre-stage bulbs lit) before the tree will automatically activate, and you'll be red of you aren't staged...

Hell, I just cut 3 .27 ligts which is a red light. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
This is why you need to buy a good practice tree. The 2 that I use you can change the roll out which effect your reaction time alot. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
