Default Poll:Have you been able to quiet your Moser?

Looking to see how many people have been able to quiet their Moser whine and if so, How? I'm looking into having a shop reset the gears to see if that works.

1) Get MOTIVE gears,
2) Have them installed by a pro,
3) DO NOT LAUNCH HARD W/ SLICKS

It will stay quiet. Once you start going to the track it's going to get noisy again. Good luck!

I had Billingsly install Motive gears in mine. They also had to machine the pinion race doe to a casting flaw in the housing. There was no way to set the pinion depth right other than to machine the race. The race cup on the housing was not deep enough so Jay had the race cut down to allow the bearing to sit back in the cup the way it should.

I have 70+ 5500 and north launches on mine since this was done. It is still quiet. Looks like I owe Jay a steak dinner.

Good luck.

When I got the MOSER the gears HOWLED! Went to richmond gears and the best shop around. the whine can still be heard, but you have to listen for it. Once gears whine, they usually cannot be quieted down. But if you put in a new set and have it set properly it can get much better.

Just picked up my car from the shop. They checked the pinion depth, it was off, they shimmed it. It quieted the car down 75%. It still whines, but it is what I first expected it to be given the hardness of the gears.
