Default SSRA benefits for 02 Z...

hey guys... ok I have all of the mods listed below and I am looking to get the SSRA and a lid... Will this really help with my car being an 02? When they say I have a ls6 intake, what does that mean? ls6 intake manifold or what? will the SSRA really help that much? Thanks!

LS6 intake.. means you have the newer version of intake that flows alot better than the stock LS1 intake.

You will definitely see gains with the lid and SSRA.. more so with the lid, but the SSRA will help you gain atleast 1mph in the quarter. You'll notice the SSRA more top end.. as it seems to perform at high speeds..

Yes, your car does have an LS6 intake. The SSRA seems to be good. Use a search button on here because there was a thread that was talking about a test that a company did, maybe it was a magazine??, But they said that there was little to no gain at all. I really cant believe this since you are doing th FRA mod as well as getting cooler air from under the car.

I really dont know that much, but will somebody that does please chime in..

how much better is the ls6 intake better than the ssra? I have the full exhaust, so how much of an increase will the lid do? also, would it be beneficial to get the K&N filter as well? thanks

Read the links provided..

The SSRA and LS6 intake are totally different things.

all the SSRA does is force colder air up into your LID... The LS6 intake is the big black thing that sits on the top of your engine..

These cars all start to pull timing out when the inlet air temp
gets too hot. On an '02 that starts at 98F in the medium-
throttle area and 104F at WOT. You will lose performance from
this alone, forgetting the small bonus from actual cold air,
if your IAT is anywhere near normal underhood non-rolling
temperatures. Some sort of way to ensure that inlet air
stays under 98F is a good thing. SSRA is one way to go
and people seem to like it. As long as you do not live in
a swamp, have your car scraping, etc. the low mounted
scoop should be not much of a problem. You can remove it
for everyday driving, I believe. Fast Toys FTRA is also
popular. I don't recommend the SLP CAI except as a duct
work starting piece (it's sturdy, heat absorbing stainless).

Just got back from some predator tuning. engine temp was around 170* and air going in was never above high 60s. It hasn't hit anything since I put it on (stock height).

Sorry man, never wrote any exact numbers down compared to the weather, but I believe they were 90*-110* on avg...I do know for a fact that they were never in the 60s or 70s though!
