Default SS is paid for, been saving for mods for 2 years, my ideas inside

I am a newbie to the site, so I will plan on learning what I can about what I want to do to my SS and finally have a quick car next racing season. Its a 99 SS auto.
I think I am going to have a locally built big cubed motor, like a 402/408, get ride of this auto and do with a stronger TH400. I might think about a poweradder also.

These bigger mods wont come until the end of next year, but with these mods in mind what should my first mods be so I can still use them with the bigger motor and trans. I just dont want to waste money on the way to my big goals

A lot of people go with a 408 Iron block. If I had the money, that is what I would get.

Welcome to the site btw

If you plan to go big cubes later on go ahead and go with large headers (1 7/8"), you will need a stout rear if you plan on using a t-brake with the th400. maybe a fast 90mm intake.

Start at the rear then work your self to the front. Get a 12 bolt rearend first if you plan on putting down some huge number's.

redo the rear end, upgrade the suspension. get large tube "race" headers, go with 3inch true dual exhaust, oh, and a roll cage!

will this car be street driven? if so i would reccomend getting a 460le or 80, built for racing. then have a big stall 3500-4000 maybe, then you will still have the computer control, make for easier street driving. and i would definately reccomend a 408 iron block, with forged internals, so you can add a 200+ shot of juice.

these are my dreams, im sure you have your own idea!

starting mods, well when you get your engine you might want to look into 1 7/8 headers because you're in big cube area over 400, 12 bolt is a must if you're plannin on puttin the power to the ground quick, the TH400 is a great tranny, what power adders are you thinking of? supercharger/turbocharger? What compression pistons are you planning on running with how much boost? basic bolt ons besides that though, if you're doin turbo obviously you dont need headers, so on, more info, do suspension and 12 bolt, get a lsx intake manifold or ls6 if you're going the cheaper route(lsx seems to show better gains).
