Pics of my Ported Throttle Bodies This is the throttle body I just got done porting and polishing(blade still needs to be polished and the holes need to be drilled in the epoxy), and one that is still in the process of being ported. A few people have asked for pictures so I figured I would post them up in the forum for everyone to see. I'd appreciate any constructive comments you have. I appreciate the tips NoseUp has given me along the way, he's been a HUGE help.

what does "porting" a throttle body even mean? what is the use of doing so?
ive read alot about people buying/doing them but i still have no clue as to why, or what the gains are

I am using a larger size than on the last tb I ported. I will post the bit sizes up after I drill the holes.
02black, the purpose of porting your throttle body is to open up the passage in which your motor takes in air, as well as to smooth it out. By putting epoxy in it you eliminate that huge flat spot which is a major source of turbulence in the stock throttle body. By eliminating turbulence you allow smoother airflow which can increase velocity(in an ideal situation) and that in turn will give you more horses.

hmm...would it need to be tuned when doing this? if i was to get one i guess i'd wait till i get headers/duals and have it tuned then and get rid of any codes and what not in the process
is this one of those like 5hp things or is there a reasonable sized gain with it?

I agree with GuitsBoy. Its a good mod to do once you've already put on a lid, and since I'm presuming your handle means you have an '02 ws6, then you have an ls6 intake. you should be good to go

Damn, I missed that question. No, a tune is not necessary when swapping a throttle body. You aren't altering anything other that airflow and how far the blade opens(if you have the bump stop mod). The amount of air going in is already recorded and reported to the pcm by the MAF. Unless you're running a speed density tune
If you're running out of mods, this would be a great one to go ahead and do. Its not super-expensive and it will provide a pretty decent gain for the $$$.

I did the Jantzer TB and an LS6 intake at the same time. My cam seemed to like it alot and it felt like a LOT more power than people claim it to give (TB+LS6 intake). If you order from Jantzer, be prepared for a lot of frustration. As for the core return charge, I still haven't seen mine ... TB took over 3 times longer than Scott claimed it would take. I even paid for fast shipment (needlessly). You can't beat his price and quality, though.

Thanks man. They'll get better That ported/polished TB up there went to mrhawk today, after I polished the blade and drilled the holes(sorry didn't get a chance to snap pics of it). Hopefully soon I'll have some feedback on performance gains.
