Default whats the general opinion on Stainless Works

I am considering purchasing a set of stainless works Long tube headers for my 98 z28. I am wondering if these are good headers, and what experiences positive or negative people have had with them. I would be combining them with true duals set up. any infor you could give me would be great!!

thanks

I'm very pleased with their product and service.
What sold me on the headers was
1. Good word of mouth recommendations from others.
2. 3/8" thick CNC laser-cut mounting flanges (No warping or leaks)
3. Bulletproof 304 stainless 16 gauge tubing w/ all TIG welds
4. Lifetime warranty

The fact that they were local to me, and were able to do the install was icing on the cake. They treated me very well.

P.S. The general manager has a georgeous 1st gen Camaro that's also very quick, and one of their fabricators is working on his own Street Outlaw 4th gen expected to turn high 7's.

I love mine. I'm local as well, but they are 10x better than the FLP's I had on there first.

Great fit for a lowered car; 2-1/2" collector.

I looked on stainless work's website and could not find a price for headers for my Camaro. I want them for a 99, without air and egr connections. Can anyone help me out with a price on these? Thanks!
- oh yes, I know these won't rust, but does anyone think it would be worthwhile to have them jet hot coated?

There have been quite a few write ups about these headers lately. They are very high quality pieces and fit the car pretty good. I found their website leaves a lot to be desired and needs updating badly, so contact them by phone if you need updated info. Here's a few searches I found for you with pics and comments:

Lightbulb

They look decent enough but I am not too happy with the way the primaries meet that 2.5" collector, looks like they hit a wall/bottleneck of sorts appearing as if it would impair the flow. The 2.5" collectors and Y pipe might be good for clearance but if you have any plans to build a potent set up (heads and big cam, stroker, FI etc.) in the future I'm not sure this system will grow with ya.

I would look at the QTPs with a more verstile 3" collector and Y pipe set up.

We can build our headers with a 3" collector-floor clearnace will be tight and depending on the motor mounts may require some "massaging". The 2 1/2" collector will work perfectly well up to 450-475HP. On a stock 2002 SS we prototyped the headers on, we picked up 30 RWHP without a tune.

The part #'s and retail are:

CA9899 98-99 LS1 Camaro/Firebird 1 3/4" primaries with 2 1/2" y pipe-off road use only $949.00
CA00 2000 LS1 Camaro/Firebird 1 3/4" primaries with 2 1/2" y pipe-off road use only $949.00
CA0102 2001/2002 LS1 Camaro/Firebird 1 3/4" primaries with 2 1/2" y pipe-off road use only $949.00
CA9802H 98-02 LS1 F-Body Headers-Header only with 3" collector, no air tubes, no y pipe $729.00
CA9899CAT 98-99 LS1 Camaro/Firebird 1 3/4" primaries with 2 1/2" y pipe and cats $1,259.00
CA00CAT 2000 LS1 Camaro/Firebird 1 3/4" primaries with 2 1/2" y pipe and cats $1,259.00
CA0102CAT 2001/2002 LS1 Camaro/Firebird 1 3/4" primaries with 2 1/2" y pipe and cats $1,259.00

These are available through us, or Strano Parts, T Byrne, LS1Speed, Summit, etc. The 2 1/2" y pipe and collector really provide excellent ground clearance, and we use the factory rear y pipe mount to eliminate banging on the floor. Sam Strano just won ESP at the SCCA Autocross nationals in Topeka with our headers (well, maybe his driving had a "little" to do with it).

Thanks and let us know if you need anything. Call us at 800-878-3635-it is usually easier to call as it is hard for us to keep up with the boards.

Thanks
Al

Where? I see one with a 3" collector, and I see a 2.5" with a y pipe but I dont want a y-pipe. I run an h-pipe and true duals that i will modify to work with these. I HATE my hookers.

2 1/2" collector would be the same price as the 3"-no problem.

Thanks

Would it be possible to order a set with a better y pipe? I really like the headers, but I don't like the dual 2.5" to single 2.5" y pipe. If you could make them with a dual 2.5" to single 3" y pipe I would be all over them.

BackinBlack02 SS

Our curent y pipe uses dual 2 1/2" pipes into a single piece of 3" tubing that we swedge down to fit into the factory 2 3/4" i pipe. If you want, we can make the y pipe with that piece 3" od, which you would then have to fabricate the part to connect to your exhaust system.

We will be doing a 3" y pipe in the near future also-we ahve a car scheduled to come in in the next few weeks-not sure yet how we are going to do it to try to get good ground clearance, but a lot of guys are asking for a 3" y pipe.

Thanks
Al

Al, thanks for the reply. I have the optional SLP dual/dual exhaust system, which utilizes a full 3" i pipe, unlike the gm 2 3/4 inch i pipe. I just want the system to be full 3" when it merges into a single pipe. If you can make the y pipe with a dual 2.5 into single 3" merge I will most likely buy it from you. If you would prefer to talk through pm's that would be fine with me too.
